Hello! And welcome to my midweek Technique Refresh post for this week. By request, I’m showing how to make Christmas lights glow…the “refresh” part is to get a Snoopy card on my YouTube channel to recover from that very first (AWFUL) video I ever posted on my channel. And no I’m not linking to it. It’s that bad! lol!

Before you watch – please know the Snoopy stamp doesn’t seem to be available online anymore. So sad! I’ve even emailed a bunch of places I’ve seen it before, and they don’t appear to be making it anymore. Watch eBay, stuff shows up there randomly, maybe you’ll find one. (Or if you have one and don’t want it, it could be worth a lot, so sell it!)
I had created a practice image and didn’t do the background spray on it – I think my markers were juicier so the blending worked better the first time. I kept the design more clean and modern here:

I am so grateful that you covered how to make lights glow! Now, what does a shadow of a snowman look like on a snow bank? Inquiring mind…
Loved the clean modern Snoopy! I picked up a Snoopy set at a store closing sale last year and this is inspiring me to think how I can make a Christmas card with it. Love the glowing lights and thanks for another technique vid.
I think you are a genius….
This is Gorgeous! I wish this stamp was still available, guess I start stalking eBay! I hope you do another Copics class at Impress, I was out of state for the last one but would love to attend if you do one again!! Your skills are Amazing!!!
You make it look so fun and easy!!!!!!!!
Fab cards Sandy. Love how you made the lights glow and the moon-lit Snoopy is awesome. I really like the look of the graphic design, but with the blended background of your final card. I so agree about the Copics class. It was fun and inspirational. Now all I need is Copics, but they are even more expensive in Europe than they are in the US. ;-(
Such good tips about making lights glow. Thanks for all of them.
Seems like I’ve seen that stamp at Michael’s recently. They’ve always carried a few Snoopy designs. I have it so I don’t need to look at it; so glad I do. Love how you made the lights look like they are turned on; gotta try it!
Very cute image and wonderful technique.
Thank you so much for the tips on spraying the background and how to make lights shine, this will come in handy for sure. 🙂
Thank you for showing us how to make lights glow!! It doesn’t seem hard at all!! I also learned how to blend two colors that don’t naturally blend well!! Great Video!! Thanks again!
Oh, wow! Sandy, as I looked at your finished Snoopy, doghouse, and Christmas lights at the very end of your video, I gasped! I thought I had walked in on the REAL Snoopy at Christmas time. It was a moment of total recognition! Genius! It was real to me. Beautiful!
Brilliant coloring on the lights!
Snoppy is so cute and I love the card.. Great tip on how to make the lights glow. TFS
Hi sandy,
Love the card. Any tips on how to color a moon? I’m working on my Christmas cards and using all sorts of dark blues for a back ground and a moon. The moon just sort of sits there and not sure what to do with it. Any thoughts?
Also had to give a serious shout out to the copic class on onlinecardclasses.com. You just can’t beat the price and I know I wont be needing any other class for a very long time! So many talented people and just loads of info!
I love snoopy and you’ve made a perfect cards with him :)!!! So beautiful!
Snoopy just makes me do a happy dance! I loved watching the lights come to life. Your are crazy talented and I continue to learn from you everyday that you post. And of course, I had to go look up your old video. Challenge accepted!!! Hahaha! You’re right…it was a tad out of focus! Still didn’t keep me from watching it. 🙂
Who doesn’t love Snoopy!? I could kick myself for not getting that stamp when I had a chance last year at HobLob. I actually had it in my cart and talked myself out of it.
You never cease to amaze me, Sandy! The way you colored this is absolutely fabulous! You can tell the moon is shining on Snoopy without even seeing a moon – LOVE that!! I know I say this all the time but you are so dang talented! ♥
I think I like the newer, cleaner version of the card best. I noticed on the first there was a halo around not only the lights but Snoopy. The background blends better on the refresh and I like the halo just on the lights. Well done!
Snoopy is so close to our hearts. I had my own Snop for 5 years and now we have a 10 year old beagle. Can you do a refresh on the art impression campers? I remember how much I adored that card.
Love Snoopy. Great card and techniques.
Very cute and like the stamp, but found it on e-bay and it’s $69.99 but free shipping. LOL guess I don’t want it that badly. Thanks for the video though. Edna
LOL! Well I knew that it’d be worth something if it’s no longer in production, but had no idea it’d be that much! But free shipping is at least something. Ha!
