It’s time for the last week of the Summer of Stamping – let’s go out with a bang! Julie’s come up with something I’d hoped she would – another size in the Voices in my Head series!!! This is a bloghop too, so be sure to scroll down to the end to see what else folks are doing with these sets.
There are a couple stamp sets and you’ll see them in my cards today….one with the hair and faces, one with accessories, and one with sentiments that are VERY timely for where we are in the world right now.

Both of mine are “concept” cards – I took the sentiment seriously about missing the faces of my friends! Check them out in the video:
Miss Your Face
This is the simpler of the two – all about missing the chance to see their faces and smiles! We do a few things together on occasion but with masks and distance, and I do miss getting my normal unencumbered time with them.
I stamped all the hair stamps close together in a rectangle on watercolor paper, then drew in my own masks and eyes. Some simple watercoloring, then I tried painting a color around the “framed” picture – just by using up leftover paint in my palette. My camera cut off during that time, so I’ll try that technique again sometime on another card so you can see how I accomplished it.
The inside sentiment is SO hilarious, and says exactly what I want to say!
Let it Grow Magazine Card
This is the card no one else will be silly enough to make, but since I filmed it (thinking it was gonna be easier, ha!), I included it! I saw all the hairstyles in the set, and thought it’d be fun to make one of those magazines you flip through at the salon to choose a hair style or color – except now it’d have best hair styles to look awesome in a mask!
I started by creating the main rectangles of the cover and inside spread, and making a grid that would fit the small faces. I stamped the hair into each square, used several stamp sets to create the “cover” (Voices in My Head, Grow, and Let It) – then started the doodling with a pen!
This stamp set inside couldn’t be more PERFECT for this card – we must be growing like mad right now (not just our hair!) after all we’re going through!

Sandy, these are AWESOME! I don’t normally use ‘people’ stamps in my cards because I feel they’re too hard to color, and stamps with no faces…I wouldn’t know where to start! But your ideas just blow me away. I love what you did with these stamps, and the final cards are fantastic. Thanks to you, I’m trying to look at my stamps in different ways. Sandy, these cards are both so beautiful! Even your “simple” one is crazy to me, because you are crazy-talented! I learn so much from watching your videos, and you always make every technique look so easy, and not the least bit intimidating! I work for an organization for kids, and wear a mask and gloves to work 40 hours a week, and believe me, we talk about what to do with our hair every single day! This is just so perfect and fun! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Good for you! I love the card and the motivation behind it. Over here, hairdressers are open again. I told my husband NOT to get his hair cut because one day soon having long hair will be a sign of BEING A RESPONSIBLE CARING PERSON.
And, what with the bushfires and the resulting smog in my home city of Canberra being 4 x the second worst polluted city in the world back over summer, I missed my previous hair cut booking. I was thinking about getting organised to get my hair cut in February and March (I admit I spent that money on craft supplies) then the coronavirus became such a thing that I still haven’t had my hair cut. At this point, my hair is long enough for a french braid – my daily hairstyle at the moment – and I’m wondering how much longer it will get!
Hello Sandy, you sure said some great things about friends and not getting your hair cut. I actually scared myself two days ago when I looked in the mirror, a complete wild woman is what I saw, hair partially in a bun, the rest hanging down the side of my face, no make up what so ever. Just me, clean and fresh, the purest form of me has come out over this Pandemic, plus my creativity is at an all time high. Tfs. Hope I win, I never win anything but I must have this card. I absolutely love both of these! They are so super creative. I am stupid crazy over the sentiment inside the I miss your face card. The magazine card is amazing. If you would ever any Edge it was into the Super Creative Abyss which is a great place to be!
Love both these cards and the inside sentiments. I have been able to have 2 haircuts (3 if you count me trimming my bangs). First time,because I am considered an essential worker (take care of an 86 year old lady with dementia who lives with me). I sure do miss faces! Maybe we need a stamp that says “good guys wear masks”! TFS
I love the sentiments. Your cards are perfect for what’s going on currently. I haven’t had my hair done since December 2019. I always wanted to see what I would look like in gray hair and now I know. I just may keep it that way.

Great idea. I have my hair appt on Friday but instead of going long I’m cutting it short after having long hair for most of my life. I’m cutting it short because I’ve decided not to colour my hair anymore. It should be interesting. I hope I like it. I just went and bought a hair styling book for short hair to see what hairstyles I like. I really like these stamps.
Awesome designs, love the fun in both cards. Sentiments on that set are fabulous especially the hug you till your eye balls pop out . We are lucky that our daughter is a hairdresser/ barber so if desperation had set from n she could have rescued us but none of us bothered her & as a result there are some long odd hairstyles on photos. I love, love, looooove this Sandy. I am missing my Ellen Hutson. Even though they are now open they are suggesting that there would be major delays with international postage, so I am not ordering at the moment. Love your card, it is a wonderfully cute design! I went 6 months with no hair cut. I last got my hair cut about 1/22/20 right before I had a total knee replacement. I was scheduled for April but everything got shut down in KY. So in addition to being ‘quarantined’ before the official quarantine I was cutting my own bangs. I have since been to my stylist so she could laugh at my sorry-looking bangs and then fix my mess! LOL!!
