I’ve always bought my tree at the local boy’s club lot…mostly because, well, those trees have already been killed, and going to a farm seems like maybe I’d be picking a tree that might still be breathing come next Christmas. But….the idea of going to cut down my own tree is a romantic dream nonetheless! I thought it might be fun to show you how to draw a freshly cut Christmas tree using these little stamps from Purple Onion in the new release.

POLYCHROMOS PENCIL COLORS: 283, 223, 174, 180, 275, 146

The sentiment is inside because this is so sweet I wanted to leave it as is!
Note that bunny had to lean down to drive the tractor – and his butt hangs off the back of the seat. LOL.

Thank you for sharing this very cute card.
Would love to hear how people use blending stumps – one per colour family, or just sharpen between? Or can you use with multiple colours?
Did you ever find that the ink from your image starts to spread and gets blurred when you are coloring or using the solution with the baby oil and blending stump… or even the gamsol . Maybe it is from the ink on a colouring page however ai have seen this muddy up the picture at the edges .
If you’re talking about a coloring page it’s likely due to the ink in your printer.
Sandy, these cards are so cute, & to see a different way to put in the pine needles how neat..
Wonderful card. You may enabled me again. I she led these out the other day and wanted, but was sleeping on it and now I want.
Adorable scenes, Sandy.
I was excited to hear that Stacey Yacula will also be illustrating for My Favorite Things. Her first set (of clear stamps) has just been released!

Sandy, in your opinion, does the baby oil have the yield the same results as Gamsol? I’d rather not have a powerful solvent in my craft room if I can help it. I also have some Natural Turpenoid by Martin/F Weber that comes in a pump style bottle. Have you tried that yet?
Once I get some more time, I’m going to purchase your Hex chart for Prismacolors and explore colored pencil!
Hi Sandy,
This was my first visit to you blog and I love your work. Just ordered the stamps you used. I am so excited to try this project. I am a Stamp-in Up demonstrator and I will be a steady user of Purple Onion Stamps. Looking forward more ideas from you.
Pamela, if this is your first visit to Sandy’s blog, you are in for a real treat!! I too am a Stampin’ Up demo and have been for 14+ years. I actually bought Purple Onion stamps before I found SU! You should know that they are Unmounted rubber, so you want to use your stampin’ pierce mat (or several layers of fun foam) beneath your cardstock you’re stamping on. Unless you want to buy EZMount cushion (which would be my preference) to make the stamps like SU’s clear mount stamps. I use the photopolymer stamps, but really prefer rubber for the better image quality. And Sandy has the BEST coloring tutorials whether or not you’re using watercolors (Aquapainters with our ink refills), Prismacolor pencils, or Copic Markers (like our Stampin’ Blends).
Sandy also has a separate Bible Journaling YouTube channel and has TWO books that just came out on Bible Journaling, if that’s something that interests you! And Sandy used to run an organization that sent millions of handmade cards to the troops through Operation Write Home. I was privileged to send about 1000 handstamped cards to Sandy for her to send to our soldiers to send to their families back home.
This is a gal whose heart is in the right place! 🙂
Wonderful two cards. Thanks for all the advice in this video with pencil crayons, most gratefully received. Love that very cute horse.
I love how you create your cards and I appreciate the videos because you give us all the information on how it was done. I’m not an artist but I love watching you start with very little and create a whole scene. Thank you.
Awesome cards, I love them both! I love how you showed to make the Christmas tree but also the background trees. I think the blended tree fits beter by the moving tractor. Thanks for showing and the lesson in coloured pencils.
That’s an adorable scene and a great video. Again, I learned some new tips. I thought the way to do it was finish coloring, then blend. I love how you kept alternating between coloring and blending on that tree, and got those realistic results. Thanks!
Sandy, I think these are truly the sweetest, most endearing Christmas cards I’ve seen! And the reason? It’s because I loved going out & tromping through the snow on the hills looking for just the right tree to bring home. Now, because we are older, we have an artificial, but it’s just not the same. I’ve never heard of Purple Onion Stamps, so I’m going to head over there. I am so grateful you made a video for this as I am not at all good at colouring, so I appreciated learning from it.
Really sweet, I truly enjoy ALL your tips, tricks oh and rants too! Thank you for all you do.
Hi sandy. This is amazing . I would like to purchase these stamps through your link. But, the link isn’t working.
