The answer is a qualified……sometimes! The only way to know is to test them out, and what better way than on a live project and not just swatches?

I recently posted about the Pantone colors of the year – yellow and grey – and I thought they might be fun colors to compare on a pair of cards. So I found some unknown-brand-cardstock in my stash to use, and colored up the So Tweet stamp set images on each one to see how it goes!

The colors used are these by Prismacolor – but you can of course use other brands!

I think I like the grey version better – it’s more quiet and restful than the other, I think.

As much as I love yellow this might be a little much, what do you think? Too strong? If I had paler yellow paper I might have been fully in love with it.

Praise the Lord for such talent! So blessed to share your skills.
I know you use Prismacolor pencils, but can one buy just the white pencils
as I have not found them. I have many brands of just white but none work
nearly as well as what you are showing.
Thanks for your reply Sandy!
Sure you can get just a White Prismacolor Pencil — https://bit.ly/3v3X2OU – but you’ll want to find other treats to make it worth the shipping 🙂
I love both cards Sandy but my favorite is the yellow card!
Great pencil colouring tips.
Thank you so much for sharing, stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.
Forgot to ask: you use a waterproof ink in your fountain pen, does that mean that I could draw with this and colour with watercolour?
You bet! 🙂
These are so pretty
I really love the yellow because it just makes me smile. Very hard to be grumpy around such a cheerful color.
Thank you for sharing colored pencils’ tips. I am exploring this technique and am finding it rather intimidating.
I like both cards. I LOVE the yellow. I can imagine a friend having a bad day, then opening the envelope to a bright yellow card…. automatic smile!
