Step by step
I diecut the stars from Neenah first, then added Dad at the bottom….

….and Little Lady is stamped behind her Dad. She has one arm up in the air, but with her behind him that’s hidden.

With masks in place, I airbrushed the background…

…with different blues and purples.

The big reveal…

I decided to color them as an African American family…

…and drew a forest behind them for the stars to fly above!

The finished card is popped up with dimensional adhesive, a white layer beneath the colored panel, and a kraft card base. A sentiment from Little Lady tops off the card, complete with white heat embossing.

Monday I’ll have a video on Ellen’s blog showing another way to color a leading family—in pencil! Stay tuned!

Thank you for your easy to follow step by step instructions. I love your nighttime glow
am I missing it or is there no video?? 🙁
So awesome! I wanted to show my DD who is just getting into Alcohol based markers how you go about doing the magic that you do. (Going back on your blog to find similar ideas!)
thank you Sandy for sharing!!
No video, sorry. Making less this year, as discussed on the New Years vlog.
This is just so gorgeous!
I love the glowing reflection you made from the starry sky! It’s beautiful, Sandy!
This is why you are one of my all-time fave artists. You are not afraid of stepping away from the same-old-same-old that we see too often. Your commitment to showing diversity is admirable. Thank you for giving us such wonderful art and ideas.
Once again, a job well done with all aspects of the card.
I love the arrangement. You are so creative!
Awesome card Sandy, great colouring and stunning scene. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend.
Sandy, this is SO adorable! I love how you have made this a father/daughter card, and you have made the family diverse too! That is a really cool idea!
Sandy, you are a blessing to so many I’m sure, but definitely to me. This card is something else! I guess a person couldn’t get the same look just by blending. I don’t have an airbrush thingy. (Technical terms you know…) And to think you drew those trees. Wow!
Beautiful card, Sandy! Did you mask Leading Gentleman again before you colored in the trees behind him? I’m sure I’d have to so I don’t get branches in his face. Love that you die cut the stars rather than popping them…makes them look even farther away.
Amazing
So fun! Thank you for sharing!
Sandy, you make me happy with your creativity, and talent with diversity. Love it!!!
Insanely beautiful coloring and design – yet again! Thank you Sandy for sharing your talent with us!
