That has GOT to be a card title never before used, right?
I made a little bonus card with the Gerda Steiner stamp that I showed the other day – Namasleigh. Y’all blew it OUT OF STOCK! Whoa! I didn’t know that many folks would be yoga fanatics. 🙂 If you didn’t nab one go sign up for notifications and Gerda can let you know when a reorder is in hand.
Since I’m announcing winners later in this post, I thought I’d also post another card with this set – warning: TOTALLY SILLY!
I’m trying to use up a stack of cut paper – and this paper was not what I thought. As a matter of fact I dont know what it is! So hard to work with. I wanted Stonehenge but…..while the surface seemed right, it was thicker, and since I’d then already stamped it, I proceeded – first coloring the disco floor. Then I masked the snowman and a circle for the discoball and went nuts with my airbrush, because that doesn’t care that the pencil didn’t like the paper. Airbrush goes on lots of weird surfaces! Some white pen magic…and this one’s ready to go in the mail to a special friend. Who shall remain nameless for the moment. Ha!
WINNERS!

Back in college I had a good friend whose medium was airbrush. The regular, old-school kind! He had all kinds of bottles of ink, masking materials, all sorts of supplies for airbrushing. I’ve often thought he would be green with jealousy about Copic airbrush now….or is he still out there making art and using Copic? I’ve googled him and have seen no sign of him, so I just don’t know. But…..
I decided to do some of what I saw him do when I would watch him work. Not all of it – he wouldn’t have taken a pen stroke to paper, he was the type to cut every single piece of color from his fancy masks. I didn’t think I had that patience, especially for a card!
In some ways I think the difference in paper textures when using marker strokes makes the glass look more glassy. With that last touch of airbrush on top it brings it back to feeling like it was airbrushed, but without all that masking.
There are several sentiments in the set – but I made a slimline card specifically to leave a nice big space at the top for this one. (Secret: I stamped and embossed it directly on the airbrushing first, but my ink splooged and it looked terrible. The good thing? This black paper with the gold layer pops even more than that had!)

I’ve been wanting to color up this stamp set for so long – and today is the day! A little airbrush and some soft touches of color make for quite a lovely little card!
Supplies for this project are linked at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links may be used at no cost to you.
This card features Copic airbrush; I have lots of students who’ve gotten one to use for the Ethereal Alcohol Ink class so I did promise some more ideas to make the most of the tool. Let’s do it!
If you have other ways to make a soft background you might be able to do something similar to this – perhaps distress oxides and blending brushes?
Instead of adding sequins at the end, I used dots of Glossy accents in different sizes!

Why hello there on Alternate Primaries Sunday! (ha!) It must be Ellen Hutson release day, right? That’s the one Sunday a month you get some extra creativity from me!
I’m calling this Alternate Primaries Sunday because I wanted to see what I could do with a not-as-typical primary color combo – pink, yellow, and teal instead of red, yellow and blue. I kinda like it!
I’m using Copic airbrush to create these, but you can certainly do inking or watercolor or other mediums to try something like this. Different shades of each of those colors can generate even more options for colorways!

With my Be the Change card with butterflies, I stamped in Distress Oxides, airbrushed, trimmed, glued, and added white pen. (That sounds like a very typical routine for me on a card!)
Why not a Christmas card in this comobination? The In the Weeds set will be fun to color as flowers, but here it’s a snow-covered garden. It came out soft and subtle…and gave me lots of places to add my white pen.
The Up in the Air set has a dirigible to color, as well as tress – but I made the trees silhouettes and added a house so the silhouette people have a place to live. (Yes every scene has a story!) Stay tuned later this month for a Christmas card on Ellen’s blog that I made with this set – way fun, no airbrushing just inking!
And gimme something to put candy in and I am one happy camper! I’ll be making these for one of my Toastmasters club meetings coming up soon. Maybe Thanksgiving treats in warm fall colors, wouldn’t that be pretty?

I’ve been in a doodly mood lately – even worked on a class! But today I decided to play around with my white pen on some airbrushing…you can do the same with other mediums like ink blending in the background.
Supplies for this project are linked at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links may be used at no cost to you.
The Craft Assistant, isn’t a necessary thing fo\r airbrush but – it’s super easy to clean, and you can see the colors on it easily. I adhere my paper lightly with a little ATG tape (or magnets if the whole surface isn’t being colored) and can then move and spin the board as needed for my project.
Make sure the colors you use in the background are dark enough that white pen shows up – and also know the pen will take on some of the color of the medium, usually. But it’s a soft yellow here which is lovely! This looks beautiful on my studio wall.
I also did some cards with the same technique. This first one uses the same colors, but before doodling I embossed one of the Lovely Labels borders in white, stamped the sentiment in black, and only doodled outside the border.
This one got a stamped border and white-embossed sentiment, then doodled the background in black.
If you just want to make backgrounds and not worry about where the sentiment will go while you doodle, just stamp!
