I’m excited that I’ve been invited to teach a lesson in Tiare Smith’s Gratitude Junk Journal 2021 Class that starts in November! I’ll talk about it in the video – and scroll on down to find out about the giveaway. But first – my new journal! Well not totally new, it’s been on my shelf for a few years but I’m finally breaking it out for Inktober!
I’m excited for Inktober to get here! This year I’m “prepped” with the journal, complete with crazy backgrounds, that hopefully will be one to draw me in each day to create. Sometimes just having a new book, and these new backgrounds all over the pages, gets me excited to play! The prompt list is below – and I’ll be sharing my creations on my @sandyallnockfineart Instagram account if you want to follow along.

A few pages
I’m stoked to get busy doodling and drawing on these in October – I may create some custom pages for particular drawings, but I want to see what these might inspire! I’ll be testing out different tools for each surface as I don’t yet know what I’ll be able to write on them with.
I took pics of a few pages….this one is in watercolor – apply a bunch of color to one side, then smoosh the two pages together.
I glued in a photo, painted around and over it with acrylics, then wiped off enough to see parts of the photo as if through glass.
Airbrush over leaves from the garden…
Fun crazy acrylic paints. Nice and messy!
Artgraph, with graphite, charcoal, and white.
Pastel applied to wet paper – it doesn’t smoodge nearly as much as it would applied to dry paper.
Watercolor, with Brusho dropped in….
Acrylic applied with baby wipes to get a good blend.
Layered acrylic with some shiny Pebeo paints.
I have a seat in s Gratitude Junk Journal 2021 class to give away – so if you’d like to enter, leave me a comment and tell me – what is the medium or technique you’d be most excited to try out? There are a bunch of teachers, and with any luck one of them will be teaching something fun on your to-learn list!
