My Country: Mit Land Bloghop!

July 1, 2012 by Sandy Allnock 109 Comments [featured_image}

Welcome to the bloghop! If you’re just checking in here, you’ll want to go to the top of the hop here and check out why part of this banner is in DANISH! ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s the sketch for my card….

I turned it into what I think is called a Kickstand card – let me know if it’s got another name! But…the front is cut short and a panel stretches to the bottom. It’s not a particularly popular type of card format, but thought it might be a fun thing to try out. I used one of the MFT images in the sets being given away on the bloghop – so be sure to comment and get a set for yourself!

Copics used to color the image: E53, E51, RV69, R37. Stamped the image on white and ran it through my Big Shot, trimmed it as a pieced dress. I debated whether it ought to say “my head” inside – but the stamp in the set says “It’s YOU!” so I decided to go with that! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your next stop on the bloghop is my friend

Charlotte, at her blog:ย At the Home of Charlie

ย She’s the one who started up the Danish OSH, so you’ll want to go see her post for sure! I happen to know she’s got some Peanuts going on – you’ll smile! She does speak English, so leave her lots of love and OWH encouragement! Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting me….be sure to leave comments on all the blogs to qualify to win – there’s a winner of an MFT stamp set on EVERY blog, so get chatty!

    I smiled when I saw this card. I have a small stack of cardstock cut for cards that I somehow scored wrong, leaving one side longer than the other. Now I can trim the pieces and have a use for them. Thanks for sharing this idea!

    I love this card! I am thrilled that Denmark has a similar project – it is a fabulous way to help the troops by helping them keep in touch with their families.

    Ha ha ha Sandy, when I saw the sentiment the first thing I thought was “My head” too! -looks like a lot of us thought that! I like the embossing on the pieced dress, it keeps the white from looking stark with all of the deeper colors.

    Love the shape of the card and the texture of the dress!

    Interesting that you used the kraft paper to line your card – kraft is my favorite card base and I always assumed I’d need a lighter liner…

    So, kraft paper’s ok for the troops to write on? Hey, I guess I’ll head over to the new FORUM and ask…. thanks, Sandy!

      Denise, white/cream is usually what I use…on this one I wanted the kraft to peek out of the kickstand. This kraft is light enough to see a pencil on – there’s a couple colors of kraft that are way dark and you still need to line that ๐Ÿ™‚ (And of course anytime you’re in doubt, liners are always good!)
