Hey if you’re a Paper Smooches fan – I’m so sorry to let you know they went out of biz! While the stamps aren’t available anymore, the technique might be helpful.
Sometimes a full background is too much. You need just a little something something….so add just a little wash of color to draw attention to your focal point – either the stamps or the sentiment!

So what exactly is a vignette?
Vignette: a small illustration or portrait photograph which fades into its background without a definite border.
Video
Gosh I love Paper Smooches stamps….the images have good heavy lines (easy for new Copic colorists) and simple shapes.

The bear looks pretty dark in photos – but in reality it’s much better. If yours gets too dark, add a little glossy accents to his eyes and nose and they pop right out!

Thank you, these are so cute, and yellow is the best color!!!! 🙂
Watching your videos leaves me with my mouth wide opened at the end of them! Just amazing talent that you have Sandy. Thanks for sharing it!
Love all of these cards! Do you have any idea where that gorgeous yellow paper that so nicely matches the Y17 comes from?
Really fun images, and a background more suited to my skill level ! I do have a tiny little suggestion, most respectfully submitted: the background music is nice when you are doing video without commentary, but I find it very distracting when you are speaking. It may be because I have hearing difficulties, but I thought you should know. I am so grateful for all I learn from you and I really do NOT wish to offend. Thanks so much.
Great cards! Love the idea of vignettes!
When I first saw your cards, I was certain you’d used ink blending for the background colors. Can’t believe you did that with Copics! I have so much to learn!!! Awesome cards, Sandy!
Great little cards – and I love this “quickie background” technique. (Also, thanks for the language lesson!)
Awesome technique. Looks elegant, but simple at the same time.
