Just because a stamp comes with certain elements doesn’t mean we need to stick with them – and in this video, I’ll show you how I edited the stamp and added the pine bough to the Hanging Pinecones stamp set from Impression Obsession to make these luscious tags!

For the card I stamped the whole image – and increased the contrast and detail in the pinecone. I added snow on the tops of some of the little parts, and the background was done the same way as on the tags!
These are an unexpected kind of tag design – little mini pieces of art to tie to a package!

Love these pine cone tags. Sandy you make it look so easy.
If I could do with fresh paint what you do with dregs, I’d be pretty happy! Lovely work! But if you painted like me and still talked like you, I’d still listen and your jabber is pleasantly soothing.
These are so elegant! Thank you for sharing
Yet again! Another beautiful tag!
Those are just gorgeous!
I absolutely love these tags. My favorite yet! How beautiful!
Beautiful! You make it look so easy! You are a very good teacher. Thank you for sharing your art and techniques with us!
Very beautiful, Sandy. I may try watercolor…
Very pretty tags! I haven’t been brave enough to try watercolor yet but after watching your videos I just may do it.
Loved it! The snow was a nice touch
Love them, It looks like fun to just let loose and see what you get, That may be half my problems with water color I need to experiment more
Pine cones are my favorite image of the winter/Holiday season and this process is perfect for me. Beautiful work!!!
Inspired and inspiring. You make me feel like I could learn to watercolor! Beautiful pine cones and a wonderful way to start my day. Must get back to colored pencil practice before I can venture into water. Thank you, Sandy.
Jethro, my dog, was getting inspired by you today watching this video. He even tilted his head when you started talking. Another great tag.
Another home run Sandy! Thank you so much for sharing ⭐️
These tags are so pretty. I never cease to be fascinated by watching you paint. I also love the card and noticed the little touches of purple, which I never would have thought of. The sentiment is perfect, a favorite of mine.
These pinecones are beautiful!
It looks so easy watching you. Very nice!
Watching you paint these pinecones is like seeing magic come alive! These tags are both ethereal and beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talents.
i love the colours and the lose watercoloring. Most of the time the
watercoloring starts as a hot mess and I AM surprises that’s when I keep Working on IT I create something beautiful
Love these tags & your painting technique! Thank you for sharing!
I love that you are also making a card like your tag. I did that with one of your tags last year
Every day I look at the tags and hope for a pinecone! I love this tag. I love this look and your instructions and inspiration makes me want to try this. To watch your painting come to life never gets old. Thank you and God Bless !!!
Sandy you have turned a simple pinecone into 5 different looks, from the plain start to a magnificent finale, Love the card too… Thankyou
Another awesome creations…tfs
Beautiful pinecone tags, love this water color look! Thanks for all your tips with this loose painting technique – I really want to try it.
Loving this series!! Thanks Sandy!
Oh my gosh, this one is totally my favorite so far. I could see you during my whole Christmas card list with this one. I love it love it love it.
Thanks for reminding me that watercolours do dry up lighter. Next time I try to do some watercolouring, I will be more patient and not blot up the paint because I’m afraid it will be too dark. Love how your pinecones turned out.
I remember that my friend and former watercolour teacher wanted us to use a sumi-e brush to loosen up.
These cards are beautiful! I love the way you can just let the water color paints flow and not worry about having to paint each little petal of the pinecone. Water color is not in the details it is in the colors and impressions you create for the observer. Nice job as always Sandy!
Beautiful. I love the look of the snow.
Lovely cards. I enjoy watching your videos!!!
More lovely tags, and I expect nothing less from you, Sandy. Here’s how MY crazy brain works: as you were painting the pinecones I kept imagining turning them upside down and painting them with bright colors, maybe oranges, reds and yellows, but greens and blues would be good too. Then you pop them into an underwater scene and you have exotic under-the-sea plants! If you want to take my CRAZY idea & turn it into a card, I’d be okay with that. I’d like to see how you run with my craziness. You could do a, “Stretch your stamps,” video and make all kinds of stamps into items that were not intended. Remember how I said the fox tags could be squirrels or chipmunks? I’m sure you could come up with a lot of creative things out of whole stamps, or parts of stamps. I don’t see things that aren’t there, but I imagine things that aren’t there.
Another wondeful work, as always. I love your watercolor paitings and would treasure this little tag . Thank you for sharing so much talent and for inspiring us all.
Simple, and sweet, and lovely.
Good Morning, I just think these are gorgeous. I love the rustic feel. I am wondering if there was a reason you choose to use water color paper behind the painted pinecone piece instead of 110lb.?
I absolutely love pincones during the holidays and these tags are simply perfect. Thank you for making this video.
Beautiful tags! I love watercolor and your techniques are always inspiring. Thanks for another great video!
Honestly, I thought these started out as a hot mess, but they turned out beautifully!
Sandy, you are so talented! Thank you for always encouraging us and giving us the lesson to follow. These are pine cone tags and your pine cone card are gorgeous.
I had my doubts at the first of the video but it turned out beautifully.
Beautiful! I have not tried watercoloring; my brain doesn’t work that way. Lol. I love everything you do.
Really like the loose watercolor.
Another great watercolor lesson – thank you! I often get “nervous” when it starts out looking like a hot mess but I know you will turn it into something beautiful.
Such beautiful tags Sandy.
Wow gorgeous as always. I appreciate your explaining your techniques as you go through your video. I am new to water coloring but love it!!
Finally found your ‘real’ blog! I’ve been looking over at art-classes.com where you list blog and thought, “Sandy must have something else!” Couldn’t make your ‘doubliee doo’ come up yesterday but today it did !! So fun to see a watercolor tag. You really make it look easy. And super congrats on your new book. Having a Bible paper work book…just brilliant!
These turned out just lovely! I was thinking while watching the video that I have a hard time letting go & not coloring in all the lines. The technique leaves a beautiful result. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent!
Love these pinecones – and the new technical terminology – “palette juice”!!! Is it any wonder I’ve been coming back to watch every brush, marker or pencil stroke you do year after year? I’m still chuckling, but I will definitely get that stamp and make some palette juice pinecones – who has more fun than Sandy?! Oh yeah, we do!
These are beautiful Sandy. I just love your washy technique, and the card is stunning!
