Here we go with more testing! I’m the canary in your coal mine again today, this time comparing different brands of watercolor pencils.

I’ve had lots of questions asking me about the various brands of watercolor pencils – there are so many! I’ve bought a few of a lot of different kinds, and tried comparing them apples-to-apples just to see. Know that you can get amazing results from whatever pencils you have; but there are a few that stand out from the crowd.

When testing – make it fun. Create a stamped project that’ll make you smile while you test out colors, brands, or techniques. What better than fun animals!

I love the video! Thank you. May I ask what stamp set you used? So cute!
It’s an old stamp set by Paper Smooches…I think it was called Chubby Chums?
Adore my 120 Albrecht Durer….also enjoy my Inktense
Thanks for doing the comparison. Great information. TFS
Love these videos. Gives me a good idea of what I would want.
great video- wondering if you could do the same thing for colored pencils?
Very interesting and informative video comparison. Thank you! Your blog is such a great crafty resource site.
Thanks for the great video. You really pointed out important differences in the pencils. Wow! for all of the color charts! I’ve marked all of this info to have it handy for reference.
I have been a fan of the inktense pencils for years. They were the first watercolor pencils I bought. Your charts and side by side comparison are terrific, so appreciated. Could we have a chart for prismacolor too? I always wondered how some of the others looked.
I only have a few prisma Wc pencils. Not made of money unfortunately
Wonderful information!
QUESTION: I have looked and can only find the 120 set in a gift set???? Are there duplicates In The 2 sets of 20 and one set of 12 of the Caran d’Ache. Where did you get the 120 set?????
Thanks, jan
Thank You Sandy for doing this. Very valuable information for us to know before making a purchase!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for this video! Loved seeing the side by side comparison!
Thank you so much for sharing your color charts. Helps so much in many ways. Really enjoy all of your videos and don’t miss any of them. Thanks again
Thanks so much for this comparison. I have inktense which I really like and a smaller set of A. Durer which I also love but have always wondered what I might be missing in the other brands. I’m happy with my two choices and after seeing this video, so glad they were my first choices so I wasn’t compelled to go buy some more. LOL
Thanks so much for doing this, Sandy! I think I’m sitting tight with my 72 set of Derwent Inktense. Especially since I’ve been *enabled* to buy several sets of tube and pan watercolors, AND 3 Silver Brushes!! ;-o
I’ve been curious about the Caron Aquarelles and wondering if they were worth the price tag. Thanks so much for testing all these pencils out for your fans. It’s much appreciated.
