GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED. First – let me show you some fun with color – swatching out the watercolor and watercolor pencil sets that Altenew sent me in advance of the bloghop coming up on the 11th!

Supplies for this project are linked at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links may be used at no cost to you.

The watercolor pencils are pretty awesome; they melt SO WELL. I wasn’t expecting that! It usually takes a high end pencil to do that, but Altenew nailed it. Plus they’re woodless – meaning the whole “stick” is pigment, not wood with a thin bit of lead in the middle! If only these were in “my” colors…..but I know for lots of you, bright is the only way to go!

Similarly – the watercolors are a little bright for me. I’m much more into neutrals and transparency, but these are pretty sweet for crafters wanting some beautiful splashes of rainbow color!

Hey Sandy! I subscribe to your blog. I’m already subscribed to your YouTube channel. And I would love to try out the watercolour pencils ❤️
I subscribe to both. I never win anything, but if I did, I’d go for the watercolors. 🙂
I was wondering how vibrant the woodless watercolor pencils would be, so I am glad I saw this video with the swatches. This is the set that I would love to win!
I just saw your painting of the beautiful, bright, orange flowers– it is GORGEOUS! I like how the pencils match the watercolors in the pans. I do not have the woodless pencils because I was not sure how to sharpen them. Do you sharpen them with a hand sharpener? I would think your “big mama” sharpener would take away too much pigment.
Thanks for the info and comparison!
I’m already subscribed to your youtube channel.
I’m not sure which set I’d rather try out, but I think the pencils are speaking to me a bit more.
Sandy ~ I love your videos and appreciate all that you teach us. I just subscribed to your blog and have been a subscriber to your YT for many years. I would love either set of Altenew watercolors but my preference of the two would be the pans since I would use those more.
You are such a blessing and thank you for everything thing you do to inspire our creativity!
I am already subscribed to YT and the blog…I’ve watched you since OWH days ♥️ Anyway, I’d really like to give the watercolors a try Here’s hopin’

I already subscribe to both your blog and YouTube channel. You’re an inspiration to us amateur artists! I’d love the pan set but the pencils would be fabulous also for travelling. Thank you for the generous giveaway.

just discovered your blog and You-tube and learning a lot- have not tried the pencils so not sure what would be good – would be have to try either
Your work is amazing. I must learn to watercolor better.
I enjoy doing the swatches so much I could just sit and do those all day!
Thank you for the giveaway ❤️ I’m a subscriber to your YT Channel and your Blog. Love your classes too! Either of the giveaways would be appreciated.
I always look forward to your emails and the beautiful artwork they contain! I have learned so much. The woodless watercolor pencils look amazing! Would love to try them out.
I love both the pencils and the watercolor set but if I had my preference I would like the pencil set if I were to win! Thanks for the giveaway.
I love looking in my inbox and seeing your emails, because I know I’m going to find inspiration! I would love either of these but the pencils intrigue me. I have never used watercolor pencils and find it may be a good fit for me. I haven’t painted in eons and I was a die hard acrylic artist, then I saw one of your YT videos and I was inspired and bought a box of Arteza watercolor tubes. I have been playing with them and learning a lot, Thank you for inspiring me to be creative again!
I’m subscribed to your blog and YouTube channel. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for your giveaway, that is very kind of you. I would appreciate receiving either.
I already subscribe to ur blog and your Utube channel, ur posts always make me smile and reignite my creative juices. It’s been a long time since I used water paint as a media. I’d love to win either set. If I had to pick one, id say the pencil as it would be something I’ve never tried before, and I like the idea of be able to get into tight sections of a stamp. Again thank you for all your inspiration!!! Love ur posts.
Hi Sandy, I love watching your videos. I learn so much about colouring techniques. Those wood less water colour pencils look amazing 🙂
I have learned so much from your tutorials! I’d love to have either set which I am going to use to inspire my granddaughter (who is a budding artist at 14!) to expand her talent to water coloring! Thank you so much for all you do!
Sandy, thank you for the giveaway. I have subscribed to your blog and YouTube channel for several years now. I have learned so much from you re using copics and in watercolouring. I would be interested in trying out the watercolour pencils. What a unique product.

Hi Sandy! I subscribed to your YT channel and the blog. I really like your work! I used to stamp many years ago and have a LARGE collection of them but now pretty much focus on sketching and watercolor painting and have my own little shop on Etsy selling mostly notecards. I would LOVE to try those pencils! Thank you very much for your kind generosity!

I think I commented but I couldn’t find it! Those pencils look A-MAZING! Your coloring might have something to do with it! Anyway either or for me, & good luck to everyone! Have a great day❗
Hi Sandy! Thanks for sharing your talents, I love your tutorials especially with watercoloring. I love these Altenew colors, and would love to try the wood less water color pencils as I don’t have any in that format. I am a subscriber to your blog, you tube and Instagram.
Morning Sandy. Firstly I hope your hand is better? I know the feeling of having bad hands.
I’m already a subscriber of Facebook and You Tube and love everything you post and I’m looking forward to the blog hop on Sunday with Altenew (another great company)

Hi, Sandy. I am amazed by your talent; you make it all look so easy! I have been subscribed to your YT channel for quite a long time, and I have just subscribed to your blog as well. If you should happen to draw my name, I think I’d enjoy the pencils a little bit more, but I don’t have the paints either, and I would be happy with those as well. Thanks for the opportunity!
Hi, Sandy. I really enjoy your work and am so amazed at your talent. I originally thought I would want the paints, but on second thought, I think I’d use the pencils more. However, either one is fine. I’m subbed to both your blog and YT channel. Thanks!
I have seen the woodless watercolor pencils and they were on my wish list. I am subscribed to your YT channel and your blog. This was a very informative post. It was great to see the swatching of the pencils and the paints. Thanks so much for all of your inspiration.
How fun to have a chance at winning some watercolors. I’ve been dipping into my daughter’s dollar store watercolor paints so would love to win either of these. Thanks for always inspiring and educating us so well Sandy!

Sandy, Your work is awesome and you speak to every level of artist. I am relatively new at this and have learned so much for you! Even watching you color blocks with watercolor pencils and watercolors is educational. I have not tried either in my card making, but will given them a try! THANK YOU!
