If you’ve watched my social media, especially my fine art instagram, you’ll have seen a few ballpoint pen drawings – yes ballpoint pen! I thought it might be fun to wrassle down a tiger shark in the medium….
I’ve seen plenty of these online – and in my brain I just didn’t make the leap from “that thing I sign checks with” to “oh wow, this has a range of tones!” But…I stand corrected! Watch the video below or click HERE to view it on YouTube.
Here’s a closeup – you can see the close-up messiness, I wasn’t aiming at perfection and achieved that goal. Ha! But it doesn’t take away from the overall picture!
Some spots in the background didn’t quite maintain that soft swoop – but I just added some fishies to disrupt what looked messy and instead maks a school of fish!
I worked from several photos for this – one for the shape, another for the lighting, and another for the background.
(Happy shark week!)
New stamping goodies
You might remember the “summer of stamping” that my friend Ellen Hutson held – new releases weekly for a month in the middle of the hot summer doldrums! Well today it starts – and while I’m not in the instagram hop, I wanted to share the stamp set! Its a collaboration with Jamie over at Ellen Hutson’s team…cute, eh? The card on the left is i watercolor and will be a tutorial on Weds…..the other is in zigs – utterly silliness!
