Are you ready for a celebration? Today is the day that Hero Arts finally opens their brand new redesigned website! I was priveleged to get a sneak peek at it yesterday and kick tires…you are going to be. so. excited! I noticed they added some things to the store that weren’t there just last week – so I’m hooking you up at the end of this post with my top recommendations. (ie: I bought these, so there might be videos coming up with them sometime. LOL!)
Every year I do a bunch of different things with my holiday cards – I do some easy ones, some middle-of-the-road ones, and some diving-in-and-going-crazy cards. Those are for my “A,” “B,” and “C” lists – based on their appreciation level for handmade cards! Ha! We all have those friends and family who just don’t “get it,” right? So we need quick cards for them. And a little more for those who care about the handmade cards. So today, I bring you cards that would be quick and easy to mass produce in their simplest form…or you can dress them up for the fancier crowd!

Weren’t those fun and easy!? I wish you could touch them on the letterpress paper and see how soft they are. And ya gotta love the Ombré Green and Ombré Red ink pads! It’s simple to make a background that looks soft and blended – toss a little snow on, and some bling, and it’s all ready for Christmas!

Grownups/cardmakers! I created a jolly Santa shaker card to share today…since I know Santa would appreciate my silly jokes video. LOL!
I stamped Vintage Jumbo Santaon on cardstock with black ink, and colored it with pencils. I diecut an oval in the front of red cardstock, and glued a scrap of plastic over it. Then I added foam tape all around the oval, leaving no openings, and peeled the backing. I piled sequins on santa’s face, then placed my prepared card front over it to create the shaker. I stamped the sentiment in red ink and attached it with the foam tape. Then I drew the white details with a pen, and added Glossy Accents over the dots. Shown below is the new bottle that my Glossy Accents now lives in – it doesn’t seem to stop up like the one it comes in, plus it creates a really thin drop!
And now, without further ado – 50 Christmas jokes in 5 minutes! Download 50 Christmas Jokes in PDF form….these aren’t jokes made up by me, just a collection of my favorites from across the web! If you can’t see the video below, click HERE to watch it in HD on YouTube.

I didn’t really know where this one was heading, but…I had been playing with Inktense pencils. I tried this with a few images, and not all worked…but the snowman came out fab. *note this is a really old post and video – I’ve learned a lot since then!
A note about the linked brush set: It’s a 1, 6, and 12 – instead of the 2, 6, and 8 that I bought individually. You don’t wanna know what I paid for mine individually at the art store. Eeeep!

After a couple days out ‘n about on the web, I’m excited to be back with cards here on my own blog. It’s fun to visit, but I never know how many people will bother clickin’ a link to follow me around! 🙂
It’s Friday, so you probably know what that means – I have a video out! Patrons voted for one of the techniques I taught in my class with Hero Arts at CHA….so this is a version of that. I had wanted to play around more with it anyway, so this was a good chance to do so….I tried it with a bunch of different styles of embossing folders, just to see what would hold up to the ironing. Yes, ironing! Paper is about all I ironed in the last number of years. Make sure you read the NOTES at the bottom of this post. Enjoy the video:
Here are stills of the cards made with the birthday background…I’ll make cards with the others over time, so stay tuned for them to show up sometime. This one is in Hero Arts neons – a fun rainbow of color!
Here’s the masculine version, using Wet Cement and Cup o Joe shadow inks.
On OWHtv next week I’ll see about doing a tutorial on how I did the star (see closeup over on Instagram)- it was a total accident but came out looking like camo!
SPECIAL NOTES:
I found that the Hero Arts shadow inks worked best for this technique; the darker the ink, the more important it’ll be to dab off excess ink, like the Red Royal or Navy.
When adhering something onto the waxy surface, you’ll find tape runners and ATG don’t stick very well; keep it simple and use supersticky adhesive like Tombow Power Tabs.
