Light Source Focal Points in Wintry Scenes

September 22, 2017 by Sandy Allnock 200 Comments Filed Under: Copic Intermediate, Holiday Backgrounds

I’ve done a few of these design-related videos from time to time and you guys seem to like them….so today I’ll talk a little about focal points – but this time with *light*….yes your lighting can direct the eye to where you want it to! Light can make your scene more interesting, and doesn’t always require that the rest of the image be shaded “properly” – it can be just the way you set up the background.

Video

Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

Hope that was helpful – and especially my students in the Autumn Scenes, City Sidewalks, and Winter Wonderland classes will recognize some of the scenes and be able to use these ideas to expand on their own scenes on cards!

    Sandy,
I have been seeing the “homework” of some of the students taking the classes you mentioned in your video. They are certainly learning from the master of lighting and shading!

I am a stamper who actually feels like I own enough stamps. Well, until I see a new release like this one with such great inspiration from artists such as you! Those little houses and bears just might get to me =)
