Peekaboo Underwater Submarine Card

July 12, 2019 by Sandy Allnock 85 Comments Filed Under: Watercolor

My mind works in mysterious ways…and in this card I decided to let the octopi go for a ride IN the submarine!

Video

View the video below or over on YT.

When watercoloring a background for a card like this, it’s helpful to tilt it at an angle to keep the paint moving – and I turned it upside down so the heavier, darker color is at the bottom of the water.

I loved having the lil critters driving the submarine! Those eyeballs make me GRIN! And can you believe this card was painted with just 3 colors?

The Porthole die was crying out for a bunch of jellyfish and octopi swimming outside! Lots of layers of color plus bubbles with white pen highlights.

Beyond amazing. I took an in person class with you in eustis, and watching in person what you can do with COPICs gives me courage to keep trying. That underwater scene is fabulous

Each of your cards are beyond terrific Sandy. I’d love to see a video of each one as you create such interest in your backgrounds that make the object of the card stand out so much more. Not asking for much am I?… lol I think I could watch you all day if there weren’t other things to attend to. This is one of the best releases I’ve seen in that I want it all. That just doesn’t happen for me. Hats of to you Ellen!
