I might be squeaking in at the end with an official portrait for Black History Month – but it’s still February so let’s get to it!

Nina Simone is one of my favorite jazz singers – she has a unique voice, and a unique boldness in her music. She’s no longer with us but her YT channel still uploads old footage of her in clubs and other venues, so I used some of that as well as the few color photos to add my own color to this AP/Time photo:

What a wonderful way to celebrate a very talented special lady!! My favorite song by Nina Simone is “To Be Young Gifted and Black”!! Thank you for such a lovely portrait!
Wow, wow and stunning, that’s all I can say when I look at this phenomenal art work you have made!
Thank you so much for sharing this masterpiece.
Stay safe and have a wonderful day.
Thank you for the introduction to Nina Simone. I was classically trained and then decided to explore Jazz in lessons for a year. I have much respect for those that can play it. To hear her sing songs that our chorus sang in HS is amazing. Her piano playing phenomenal. A new person to listen to with such a deep rich voice. Thank you Sandy…. as she’s an artist, you are an artist!
Absolutely stunning
Wow!
Oh my goodness, this portrait is amazing! I am always in awe of your talent, but this piece takes my breath away. Fantastic!
Thank you also for the link to her YouTube channel.
Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
