Mini Tryfold Cards

April 27, 2016 by Sandy Allnock 18 Comments [featured_image}

I’ve liked the full-size TryFolds before – but they were a bit hard to figure out how to do the stamping…the minis? Oh man. Easy peasy!

Mini TryFold Cards

There are a couple designs in these mini try folds….I love being able to peek “into” the card from the front and get a preview of the images inside. And I thought it would be hard – but paired with the MISTI, it was a total piece of cake! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

I painted these with my Daniel Smith watercolors – but you can easily use whatever kinds of paints you’ve got at home. For paper, I used the Arches Rough – and some folks find the “regular” cold press or the smoothest hot press to be easier to stamp on.

I also gave you a peek at the Garden Window set  – there’s also a sweet set called Hello Friend that I want to try!

Know that if you want to use Copics you might want to use the 110lb cardstock – don’t get overly heavy with your coloring and it may not bleed through at all 🙂 But I used my pencils for the window card.

    I am glad that I spotted this tutorial while Stumblin around the web in bed this morning (too chilly to get out from under the duvet!).
    I bought on of these tunnel sets a year or so ago and COULD NOT figure out how it worked (hand cutting the opening was no picnic either), so I tossed the stamp into the “Sell or Donate” tub. Since seeing this, I’ll dig it out and give it another try!
    Have you done a tutorial for the Art Impressions tri-fold stamp sets? I bought the “Garden” set, I think. It has a wooden bench, a bunny and flower pots. That was another that was difficult for me, because of the fussy cutting. After those 2, I didn’t bother to open the window die w/the windows on the world stamp and the Deco Windows die! Maybe I’ll dig them out too! Thanks for the tutorial and the inspiration to try again!

    I love the way you did these cards . They remind me of Beatrix Potter’s delicate illustrations. So now I’m probably going to have to get these! I so appreciate this video , I would’ve taken me forever to figure that set out !

    I thought they were too complicated for me. But now, with your video and very clear explanations, I’m going to make some additions to my wishlist ! Thank you.

    When I was little the Easter Bunny always left me one sugar egg that had a view inside. It was so hard to eat it since I didn’t want to destroy it. Your card brings back those sweet memories and is a wonderful card!

    Love the tunnel through to the bunny. Not sure if you would find this helpful, but when using solid stamps with my misty I have a clear sheet same size as the base. So when I do my test stamp on the acetate, instead of moving the stamp I move and position card underneath stamped acetate and then place my magnets. I usually stamp little closer to the centre, so I have room to move card around. I find this way is really useful if I am masking or trying to line up multiple stamps.
