Speed coloring – Marching band mice

April 18, 2016 by Sandy Allnock 13 Comments Filed Under: Watercolor Pencils

Marching to the beat of my own drummer…that’s me! Let’s start off our Monday with a little band practice!

Birdie Brown, one of the designers with stamps at My Favorite Things, has such a great style – very cute images but not “too” cute, if you know what I mean? Like the Strike Up the Band set – her images are more like story book illustrations, rather than goofy drawings like some stamps. Plus I’ve been wanting to play with my Caran d’Ache Museum Aquarelle pencils – lots of fun to just scribble on a bit of color and move it with water! There are other brands that work great too (and much less expensively…favorites are Inktense) but these are my indulgence!  Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

In the stamp set, half the band members face one way, half the other….so the other parade is made up of mostly the drum section! On this one I tried reversing things  – colored ones and black and white outfits.

Supplies

  • My Favorite Things, Strike Up the Band
  • Caran D’Ache Museum Aquarelle Watercolor pencils
  • Arches Cold Press Paper: EH – BLICK
  • Artist tape
  • Silver Brush Black Velvet Round #8: EH – BLICK – AMZ
  • Ampersand Hardbord, Flat 9×12
  • VersaFine Ink Pad, Onyx Black
  • Quietsharp Pencil Sharpener: BLICK AMZ

I love this stamp. I’ve already made two cards with it. Great to have a new idea for how to use it!
    Thanks Sandy!

Hi Sandy, this is so adorable. My 2 & 4 year old grandsons were watching this with me and they enjoyed it (to the end) as much as I did! Now they want to watch your other videos. LOL Two more fans! LOL

What a cute video. I love watching your videos because I pick up so many little tips for coloring, whether it’s Copics, pencils, watercolors, whatever. Thank you!
