Merry Christmas Eve! I won’t interrupt your festivities for long….I created a little video of a project that’s taken me months to complete…and it just got done in time!

Madonna and Child Pyrography Drawing

Watch the video below and scroll to the end to leave comments or questions — or click HERE to watch it on YouTube and leave comments over there. I read both dutifully!

What’s pyrography?

Wood burning, to be colloquial….it’s burning the surface of a piece of wood at different rates and temperatures to create different shades. This one was…epic. The wood was too hard to work with easily, but I love how it came out.

A few details

This piece took me over 120 hours, I lost count at some point….I worked on it on and off since perhaps September. The darker the color the longer it takes, especially if trying to make it smooth! I have some spots that need more work, so maybe by next Christmas it’ll be just right. 🙂

The wood is a piece I picked up at  a craft store, and I think I’m finding out I like bamboo best – which is not what this is. A piece on bamboo didn’t take nearly this long to get dark and even! I think I’ll try out some other woods and see what else is out there too. But it was super fun working on a circle! I rigged up a spinny thing from an old lazy susan that I got at Goodwill – which was a bargain at a buck!

New Class is live!

The sale is tomorrow but if you want to peek at the promo video, tap on the image to go to the page and see it. Sale code will be posted on the sale page on Sunday.

Marker winner!

I’m excited to announce the winner of the Sketchmarker Aqua giveaway….congratulations Barb Skinner!! Please email me to send your mailing address, and next week I’ll pack up the markers and send them your way.

Taking a few days off

I’ll be laying low for a few days so if you don’t see me – know that I’m fine, just taking time off. See you next week when I’ll return to social media. 🙂 Maybe YT later in the week.

Merry Christmas!
