Sorry I didn’t have the sky and tree on camera – my poor equipment is in meltdown mode! It’s almost 90 in the studio, and nothing is happy. Not me, the pups, or my tech. Wahhhh! But…on a good note, I’m learning things so once life gets back to a cooler state, I hope to turn some of this into classes eventually.

I feel you on the heat front … not fun at all
Adorable racoon and amazing background too!
Awesome scene Sandy, I love your raccoon.
Great that you explain how to colour the fur, thank you!
I feel so sorry for you and the dogs that it’s so hot, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that it gets cooler soon.
If you cannot or do not want to install a complete air conditioning system, you can use a mobile air conditioner, which does have a tube to the outside (can take through a window), are not as expensive as in your entire house.
In the Netherlands, almost no house has an air conditioning system, but now that the summers are getting warmer and very hot days occur more often, people often want to sleep cool at night and that is why there is a wide range of mobile air conditioners for sale. Also the air coolers are advancing, which work like the DIY you showed on IG.
Thank you so much for sharing, stay cool as possible and have a wonderful day.
Hi, Sandy – Good video. I could tell you a long story about how a mama raccoon moved into our house between the siding and the drywall. Had two pups there…. they looked like canine puppies except for their amazing claws! Long, long story and I learned more about raccoons than I ever imagined I would. Do you know that approx 15% of N American coon have adapted genetically to NEED human shelter such as abandoned buildings, attics, etc.? They are actually not capable of surviving in the wild and require prefab spaces. Anyhoo….
I will keep you in my prayers for survival in this heat. I think I understand your comments about doors below…. you mean that between rooms, you don’t have doors, right? At first, I thought “how do you get in/out of the house?” Silly me.
I think $15,000 is a low estimate unless you’ve had someone quote you that price. We got an already-existing central air system overhauled and updated about 16 mos ago and it cost us more than that. We have a 2-story house — not sure if you are on one level or two. Our duct work was basically sound… just needed to be blown clean. I wish you luck!
Thanks again for the video.

Raccoon is adorable – love how you gave him an air of frustration – or maybe I think that because it’s how I usually feel when I’m painting! Either way, it’s an amazing piece of tiny art – as always. Even in the heat! I had no idea your summers were usually so cool… Weather here on the Great Plains has been weird this year too… we’ve already had one triple-digit week, which usually doesn’t happen until late July or August. Fingers crossed that we’re all getting these hot days out of the way early and the rest of the summer will be cooler… Hope the heat doesn’t keep you from enjoying World Watercolor Month.
