While I do some fun and simple coloring….enjoy a little pep talk. Art is fun – let’s not get distracted with our oopses – or those of others!

One thing that can help in making coloring more relaxing – cut down the amount of real estate that needs to be covered! Condense floral blossoms into a small rectangle, even letting some beak out of that rectangle as I did here.

Thank you!! ❤ I needed to hear this!
Helpful comments that pick me to bits is the total reason why I don’t show a single bit of my work or sketch pad any more. My partner always says tell if they are so good then show is your work then ! But courage has gone, I know I’m not alone, leave people alone.
I loved your card, your sentiment label looked just fine to me, who said it had to be in the middle. Great set of stamps but I’m sorry international shipping cripples my spending so I’m sorry I can’t help you support an amazing cause this time. See you soon, & you just rock so ignore the comments unless they rock up their versions that must be so perfect they are dull.x
Beautiful card and a worthwhile charity. I can’t believe some folks feel the need to critique the work of others. Negative trolls—ignore them.
Thank you Sandy for demonstrating how to create a beautiful floral card with stamps just in a centre rectangle. Love it! TFS :O) xxx
Really great card Sandy
Hi Sandy my mantra is “there are no mistakes in crafting only creative opportunities “ and as a volunteer card making tutor for our local U3A (university of the third age) I am forever letting my class know that if they don’t get it perfect it’s ok and after all it is handmade and their love has gone into its creation. I do let my students know when I do something a certain way it’s usually because I have either found it quicker or easier or I had trouble and made mistakes doing it another way. Each piece is the creation of the maker and therefore individual and their take on what they see. Love your work and your explanations keep it up
Sandy I loved your card but… I loved your pep talk evenmore! You are so right and I hope you don’t mind that I steel the next sentence from you ” Art isn’t about perfection, if we wanted perfection we just take photographs”. I rewind the video more than once to write this down, I have a quote notebook and will using the quotes some day on my art journal page or in a post on FB or my blog. I will refer to you for this quote.
I am an perfectionist and it is hard to be imperfect in the cards I make, but step by step just as learning how to colour, I learn that my art doesn’t need to be perfect. So thank you very much for the encouraging to be not perfect!
Sandy, thanks so much for your embrace the imperfections. Im forever thinking I have to start over but will try to relax and continue coloring.
I am one of those people that want to know if I missed a stem, colored in the wrong place, whatever. I get so absorbed in my coloring that sometimes I overlook something that I would have changed had I saw it. I also used to read your comments when I saw something and if no one else told you, I really, really wanted to tell you since I was afraid that you would not have noticed and really would have liked to fix it. WELL, after hearing your comments several times in the past that you didn’t really like that people always wrote and told you about your mistakes, I thought about myself. I would have wanted to know immediately, since I wouldn’t have wanted something to be forever stuck on YT with a mistake and would hope that someone told me. I have come to realize that not everyone thinks like I do and after today’s Sandy Talk, I finally understand your point of view. Takes awhile for me to get it, but now I see. (Was once blind.) It really pays to listen instead of just assume. I haven’t ever written to you about a mistake but really wanted to help. WAY more than finding a mistake is my joy at seeing and learning all that you present. WAY more is my pleasure when I finally got over trying to fix everything. We have deer in our backyard and I was so worried about their ticks that I was trying to devise a way to put tick prevention on them without their knowing. After making a concerted effort to stop trying to fix every thing, I now enjoy watching the deer even more. After all I have enough to fix by looking at the man in the mirror – thank you Michael. Sincerely and much more relaxed, Mary
If I’m in a class, I appreciate a teacher pointing out where I can improve. But comments by viewers of my content provided *for free* feels far too much like an ungrateful “I finally caught you! Ha!” instead of being helpful. I don’t care so much for me, but if they’re doing it to me – they’re likely doing the same all over the craft universe 🙁
Sandy, the card is awesome! I love it! You are so inspiring and I love your work and watching your videos. I for one totally APPRECIATE your talents and all you share with us who are trying to better themselves in the art world.
Thank You!!!!
