Easiest Copic night sky background technique ever – no streaks!

January 6, 2021 by Sandy Allnock 5 Comments Filed Under: Copic Intermediate

I’ve had an obsession with slimline cards lately….I have tried to resist for months, but they allow for more coloring so they’re right up my alley! But sometimes covering all that real estate needs to be quick…and streak free. Today I’lll show you one way to tackle that!

Supplies for this project are linked at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links may be used at no cost to you.

There are several ways to apply the reinkers with the Swisspers….you might think of more, too. What textures could you make with cotton balls or textured fabrics? Check it out:

Remember that adding some colorless blender (or isopropyl alcohol) to the make-up Swissper pad will give a more transparent look to the color and will blend multiple colors.

To minimize the fussy cutting, I set the horizon in place above the spot where I’d have to use a knife to cut open spaces between the two characters.

This looks easy to accomplish. I just wonder how much ink that would use? I have a couple of refill colors that I need that aren’t available yet in the new containers. I do like the new containers though because they fit nicely in my pen barn (the module Ultimate Pen Storage by Crafter’s Companion). Until recently I haven’t needed any refills but have bought five or six so far and need at least another color now. Looks like it would be fun to buy that blue color too!

I always so enjoy your thought process (story line) of why the critters are in a certain position, what’s going on, etc. Very cute card. TFS

Looks like a fun technique – I’ll have to look into that “Swissper” product. Anytime I can get a smoother Copic sky, I’m all for it! Thank you for this idea. We’re getting rain on top of snow here today – so thinking about something fun is surely needed!
    Glad to have you back.
