I’m back today with another crazy lighting video…I just love coloring anything that has challenging light sources! This is a little Stacey Yacula image called Midnight (from Purple Onion Designs), and it’s so sweet it just cried out for some special coloring!

Back-lit objects have a bit of a glow from the light that bends around the image. On this one, I struggled with how make the gold glow work – but once I was done, I was very happy with how the tones layered to make especially that hat look like it was truly backlit by a golden moon!

I just love how cute and fuzzy little Midnight came out – and that moon actually looked better than I suspected it was going to!

OMG! Just so adorably sweet! I love it!!!
Love your kitty and that moon. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
Great job Sandy. I always enjoy watching you colour. Such beautiful work! TFS!
Beautiful card. Love the craters on the moon and the texture in the cat fur. I’m always amazed by your videos with night scenes, watching something colored in ‘daytime’ suddenly become night. It’s like a magic trick.
So darling! Love the calico kitty and your moon turned out amazing! 🙂
Darling puss. Looks perfect against that big moon.
What a cute little kitty. I love the “pre-shading” you did with the grays, going to try that very soon.
I really enjoyed watching this on the Patreon sneak peek and am loving the “premiere” here as well Thanks for continuing to share such marvelous technique and talent with everyone!
