Art Impressions Watercolor Fiesta!

March 2, 2016 by Sandy Allnock 14 Comments [featured_image}

Hello and welcome to YOUR video trio – by popular demand! I asked you which Art Impressions stamps you wanted a tutorial on…and watercolor was the winner by a landslide! I have THREE videos for you…

  1. Basic techniques using foliage and flowers
  2. The wooden gate card, with clasp
  3. Southwest card, over on the Art Impressions channel

Watch one or all three, whatever floats your boat!

Art Impressions Watercolor: Basic Techniques

If you haven’t gotten started at all with these stamps, watch this video to see how they basically work. I take it step by step to show you how to apply the marker and stamp it, and how to apply just a little water – or a lot if you want the image watered out. Watch below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube!

Art Impressions Watercolor: Wooden Gate with Clasp closure

Now that you’ve got the basic idea, let’s try one of the “sets.” AI has assembled sets with a main image – usually a structure or container – and a few flowers. I’ll also use some of the stamps from the foliage and flowers in the previous video,but you can do a lot with just the flowers in the set alone. Watch the video below, or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube!

Isn’t this a lovely card? I did cut it down to make it smaller, which made the gate image look even MORE intimate.Sandy Allnock Art Impressions WC gate

The clasp keeper can be used by cutting it into two pieces in the center – then attach it around the back of the card so that the clasp fits perfectly on the front. OR leave it in one piece like shown below, and use these measurements:

  • Card: 5″ x 3-5/8″
  • Vellum 5″ x 9-3/4″ scored at 3″ and 6-3/4″

Art Impressions Watercolor: Southwest Set

And last but not least…the Southwest card over on the Art Impressions channel! This is the most popular set – likely because they have a pretty big audience in that part of the United States! My video should be uploaded soon if it’s not already – click HERE to see it on their channel on YouTube!

    Beautiful cards. I just contacted my local store (Photo Scraps in Eldersburg) and I so hope they reach out to you to have you come teach. It’s a great store and I really want to take another class with you. Thanks Sandy.
