The card theme I send the most of is either thank you or thinking of you (general) types – because I send a TON of cards to my awesome Patrons. I recently sent out about 140, so I completely depleted my thank you stash, so I’m building it back up again for the next big card writing session!

I bought one airplane stamp set. Then saw another I loved. And bought it without realizing I had another one. LOL. I’m sure that I’m the only one it’s happened to! But – please don’t take it to mean that ANY stamp company is copying another. Generally they all are in production for MONTHS before anyone sees what they’re up to. Unless they’re Chinese counterfeiters, it takes reputable companies a LONG time to develop and produce their stamp sets. But given the number of airplane stamp sets from even more companies like Neat & Tangled and Hero Arts….there’s definitely a love in the air for flying vehicles! In today’s video I’ll show you the two I got and what I like about each, and you can pick what means most to you if you need an airplane set.

Sketches at Mojo Monday are among my go-to’s that I used to use for my cards…I picked Sketch 511 for this set of cards.

From the Sunny Studios sets, I used the sketch a little more traditionally, only altering the orientation of the rectangle in the top half of the card. The sentiment on these is from the Hello Bluebird set.

With the Hello Bluebird set, I made the main image a square, and flipped the design so the image was more at the top. The rectangle became a banner, which was a great place to put the sentiment.

This uses the Sunny Studios set too – and I kept elements of the sketch like the dangling banner in my adaptation, and a horizontal panel. I did eliminate the white pen work here too. I had to do some fancy knife work to cut around the flying banner, but you can also just adhere the banner on with glue instead.

What a fantastic mix of cards from those two adorable sets & fabulous companies. These cards would take me ages but if they look as good as yours id be a happy stamper.x
Oh Sandy, these cards are just fantastic! And I love both stamps sets!!! I’ve been known to buy the exact same stamp set in duplicate – guess that means I like it!!
Gorgeous cards, great to see that you also use paper piecing. That’s something I didn’t use for ages, still love it, that also applies to my patterned paper. I love the little finishing toughes.
Thank you so much for the inspiration and great examples.
Eak! Your cards are so cute and that’s exactly what happened. My heart sank when I saw Hello Bluebird’s adorable set come out while the Sunny Studio one was in production. Hers is amazing though and when I reached out to her she was so kind about it all. 🙂
It happens all the time! Apparently I thought it was SUCH a genius idea I bought them both. LOL! Thanks for keeping us stocked with cute stamps!
Love this set of plane cards with this sketch.
What adorable cards and stinkin’ cute stamp sets!! I haven’t paper pieced in years, maybe it’s time to start again!
Such a fun set of cards, Sandy. I always tend to forget about paper-piecing, so it’s good to get a reminder every now and then.
BTW, Julee decided to bring back the MM sketches on her personal blog, even though it’s just for fun and on a bi-monthly schedule.

I love the paper piecing that you’ve done with these sets!
I recently got the Hello Bluebird Maverick set and dies since my grandson loves puppies and planes (what could be better!) The airplane die has a slit for the cockpit to slide the critter into the seat.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Cute cards – and cute stamp sets. I have an older airplane set with just one critter in the cockpit. Now I see how easy it would be to remove him and insert a different pilot! I haven’t used patterned papers in ages, so maybe I’ll even take a look at some of those. Thanks for the “retro” ideas this morning!
Cute cards – and cute stamps. I have an older airplane stamp set with just one animal in the cockpit – but now I see how easy it would be to cut him out and put a different pilot in there! Who knows – I may even dig out some patterned papers. Thanks for the retro ideas this morning!
