World Watercolor Month is a charitable event to support arts education featuring the 31 watercolors in 31 days challenge!

Founded by Charlie O’Shields over at Doodlewash

It’s July again – tis the season to celebrate the joy of painting…whether on a card, in a sketchbook, outside in plein air, or studio painting. Just splash color and have fun! Use #WorldWatercolorMonth when you post art that features watercolors (or gouache) on social media all month long!

On my teaching website I’ve got 11 watercolor classes and each one is on sale all month long…and one of them is always FREE! This is not a “deep” sale because $2 of what you pay will be donated to the Dreaming Zebra Foundation! (read more later about what that is!) Share your class work this month in the Student Facebook Group, too – because I’m going to DOUBLE the number of prizes given out this month, just to inspire you to paint more!

You can also take classes from other ambassadors of World Watercolor MOnth. It’s a great time to see what you can learn from other people too – and follow them on YouTube and social media. Here are their websites: Andrea England | Angela Fehr | Birgit O’Connor | Denise Soden | Irina Trzaskos | Jean Lurssen | McKinney X2 Designs | Leyla Torres  | Rebecca Rhodes | Tonya Lee

Charlie OShields over at Doodlewash has posed prompts, which you don’t have to use but can serve as inspiration if you get stuck:

This is a charitable event – and if you know me, you know HOW MUCH I LOVE THAT! The Dreaming Zebra Foundation is the selected charity – here are ways you and I can help:

  1. $2 of your watercolor class purchased at Art-Classes during this month (not including the free class).
  2. Purchase my Lush Light painting on a zippered pouch (seen below) in the Doodlewash shop – proceeds go to Dreaming Zebra!
  3. Donate supplies! I’ll be collecting together a bunch of the watercolor sets and brushes I no longer use and packing up a BIG box to send to them for the kids. Do you have paints or brushes you no longer need? Here’s their address:

The Dreaming Zebra Foundation
5331 SW Macadam Ave., Ste. 285
Portland, OR 97239

Want to get something when you give? Purchase this zippered pouch for your art supplies that has my Lush Light painting on it – proceeds go to the foundation!

I’m going to try (TRY) to paint these prompts daily and *film them* for social media. I’m hoping I can do this, it’s a ton of work but will be a fun challenge for me! At the very least they’ll be still images, lol. I’ll put a widget thingie down here that will show my two instagram accounts, in case you aren’t on there, you can still click the arrows to watch! If the clamor is to auction them off, it’ll be during the last week of the month, so stay tuned!
