Watercolor Pencil Comparison

Here we go with more testing! I’m the canary in your coal mine 🙂

And PS, apologies to those who saw the peek at the Bible Journaling page – that video posted by accident and I had to remove it. For now. Stay tuned.

Watercolor Pencil Comparison

I’ve had lots of questions asking me about the various brands of watercolor pencils – there are so many! I’ve bought a few of a lot of different kinds, and tried comparing them apples-to-apples just to see. Know that you can get amazing results from whatever pencils you have; but there are a few that stand out from the crowd. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

When testing – make it fun. Create a stamped project that’ll make you smile while you test out colors, brands, or techniques. What better than fun animals!Sandy Allnock Smooches

Here’s the chart I created…Sandy Allnock Watercolor Pencil Comparison

  8. I have been a fan of the inktense pencils for years. They were the first watercolor pencils I bought. Your charts and side by side comparison are terrific, so appreciated. Could we have a chart for prismacolor too? I always wondered how some of the others looked.

    1. I only have a few prisma Wc pencils. Not made of money unfortunately

QUESTION: I have looked and can only find the 120 set in a gift set???? Are there duplicates In The 2 sets of 20 and one set of 12 of the Caran d’Ache. Where did you get the 120 set?????
    Thanks, jan

  13. Thanks so much for this comparison. I have inktense which I really like and a smaller set of A. Durer which I also love but have always wondered what I might be missing in the other brands. I’m happy with my two choices and after seeing this video, so glad they were my first choices so I wasn’t compelled to go buy some more. LOL

  14. Thanks so much for doing this, Sandy! I think I’m sitting tight with my 72 set of Derwent Inktense. Especially since I’ve been *enabled* to buy several sets of tube and pan watercolors, AND 3 Silver Brushes!! ;-o

  15. I’ve been curious about the Caron Aquarelles and wondering if they were worth the price tag. Thanks so much for testing all these pencils out for your fans. It’s much appreciated.
