These boots

Happy Monday! These boots are made for Mondays didn’t sound like a very good sentiment, so I decided to turn them into a missing you card…much nicer for our heroes!

This is from the new set by Club Scrap – go get it quick if you’re planning to, because til the 28th they’ll be donating a buck to Operation Write Home for all of them sold! :) And I could have printed out a sentiment for it, but I really love it when a sentiment is more than just a little printout. So I picked out some fun alphas and assembled them to accomplish what I wanted to. The thickers used for “Boots” started out cream on kraft – so I colored them with a brown copic to turn them golden :)

I had a blast coloring these once I had time….I used Copics E59, E35, E33; and a tip, to reserve the spots for the laces (and not accidentally cover them over with all the dark colors) I first drew them in with W2 – once I had everything else colored around them I did a quick swoosh of E33 over the top of the laces as well to smooth out the look. The shading outside the boots was done with W7, W3, and W000.

The little letter stickers are by October Afternoon – what a lot of letters came on those sheets, I love them!

And….I’m entering this in the Simon Says Stamp & Show “Depth of Distress” challenge. I’d say if you’re thousands of miles away from the one you love and even your boots miss your sweetheart – that’s about as much of the depths as  you can get. :) Some hero in Afghanistan will hopefully love sending this one back to the states!
