Stamping a Floral Wreath – My Monthly Hero kit Oct 2015

While today’s pretty wreath can be created with any floral stamps – it’s perfectly sized for the brand new monthly My Hero kit….available for a limited time only starting at NOON Eastern time today! When they’re gone, they’re

Stamping a Floral Wreath (Featuring the MISTI tool)

I’m so grateful that Hero Arts sent me their brand new kit to try out and show you. The instant I saw the small size of the poinsettias, I pretty much knew a wreath was in order! All my other poinsettias are too large for this kind of an idea. (And guess what? I think this would be pretty with spring colors later on, too, no one will know it’s a poinsettia if you do it in other colors!) Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube!

Using the inks that come in the kit would also do a great job on this wreath – I just wanted to see how they looked all soft and watercolor-y with the distress inks! And isn’t the font pretty for the sentiment? I’m going to be stealing this to use with some other holiday stamps, methinks.

Need more ideas? Be sure to check out what everyone else has done with this very same kit! And peek in on my Periscope broadcast from this morning too (pic below the list)

On Perisocope, I stamped on Yupo paper; the standing, finished card below was on translucent, and the flat papers are on the white. In the scope I had some challenges which I discovered was because the stamps had “dried” overnight in the MISTI – not a bad thing, they just needed to be stamped a couple times to get primed up and ready to roll! The one on top on the right was stamped on the same white Yupo and did just fine. More testing with stamps on Yupo will come, I haven’t played with colored inks til last night. But on Wednesday I’ll have a Yupo Roundup with some ideas on how even a beginner could fall in love with this stuff using supplies you already have. lol. I know, I know. But at least it’s just the paper, right? LOL! Watch the Periscope broadcast to see more details!

  1. I’m trying to find out the color name of the ink pads. I cannot seem to find any posts the give the name of the colors in this hero arts 10/2015 kit. Would you happen to know what the names are. The card is beautiful.

  2. […] by my friend Kathy (they’re different each month – you can see last month’s HERE stamping a floral wreath with the MISTI that also works with other flower stamps you have). I only […]

  3. Sandy,

Seeing this a little late, life in the way, but this is a fantastic use of the Misti. I just got mine and want to start trying it out thanks for the inspiration! I’m too late for the Hero Arts kit, but perhaps the Wplus9 pretty poinsettias will work? I should start looking to my stash more anyways. Wonderful as always.

    Much love,

    1. There’s lots of flowers that would work!

  4. Gorgeous cards. TFS! Love the stamo ser.

  8. I missed out on the kit, but I love seeing everyone’s creations. Your cards are just beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to do a video.

  9. Absolutely gorgeous! I can see how a second misti could really come in handy for a purpose like this. Love how you created the wreath and filled in with the evergreen boughs. 🙂

  10. Sandy I am so excited, I just bought some Yupo from Dick Blick it arrived this week I can’t wait to see what you do on Wednesday.
I have one question can you use any water colour pens/inks etc on Yupo, and will you give us some tips on using it?

  11. Yup we busted the web.

  12. I absolutely LOVE this card! Thanks to your post reminding me, I was able to snag one of the kits…I think there were 16 left when I ordered. I grabbed it just in time 🙂

  13. Wow what a gorgeous wreath!!!

  14. Sandy, Thanks so much for the inspiration!!! You are awesome!! Love your Perescoping!! A test of patience, but I finally got over to H.A. and placed my order!! A couple of things I need to pick up anyway….unicorn ink and the stamp scrubber!! You know, I’ve been using those flat paint edgers refills about 3×4 inches as my ink scrubber putting them into a shallow carryout tray and spritzing them cleaner but it is not portable – it’s about time I treated myself to a good scrubber. I love Christmas stamps and can’t wait to use the stamps this year!! I send out about 200 cards but only about 50 are handmade. Can’t wait to use my MISTI tool this year, maybe I can knock some more cards out!! I love making cards. I made my first shaker card and gave at a baby shower last month – the guest of honor and everyone at the party really enjoyed passing around the card and shaking it up!! 🙂

  15. Love your card! The site is working and I was able to order one. Just wish it could have been through your site.
