Oozak Challenge and tutorial video

This month I’m the  hostess for the Oozak Challenge….and I’m so stoked! I created this video for it after a conversation with some friends – we laughed about how much we once thought we would save by making our own Christmas cards. (Ha!)

I stressed so much over this card, believe it or not! I wanted to start off right with Oozak :) I made it several times, with different papers, etc.. Copic colors are: B00 and B0000 for the background; I colored it first so as not to drag any of the other colors out into the blue area. Flesh: E53, E00 and a little E0000, and his feet have a little YR61 and RV10 in them; Greys are W5, W3, W1; Basket is colored with E57, E15, E35, and the hearts have R59 for the shadows, and R46 and R17 for the rest.

I punched the heart out and trimmed it down, adding the sentiment from Hero Arts to it (just half of the XOXO sentiment), and created my own embellishment out of it! Last touch was Glossy Accents….since I’m a messy crafter, I leave the wet things for very last so I don’t dare touch them while working on something else on the card! :)

Let me know if this type of product linking is helpful for you…I’m hoping it helps me keep things straight and enable you as much as you desire!

Great video Sandy…. what an adorable card. If only I knew now what I evidentally didn’t know then.. I could’ve bought/paid for my Armada and probably part of a new vehicle for my hubby.. but it’s all good.. because the joy that is brought to others through the cards that are made is priceless.

Sandy – you may make a copic colorer out of me yet!! Great tutorial video :D You have accomplished your goal – I have already clicked over to Oozak and registered and have begun to SHOP! LOL!

Yes! this type of product listing/linking is VERY helpful for me (although my checkbook may not agree!)

Have a great weekend, despite the rain!

Great tutorial video. I really enjoyed it and learned something too.

I watched it at Oozak and then clicked over here and promptly bookmarked the page.

I like the product listing. My bank balance will NOT!

  6. Sandy Allnock:

LOL Kathi! All our wallets need a raise so we can shop more, don’t you think?

  7. Mary, Wausau WI:

Joyful card Sandy! Regardless the cost . . . a handmade card (especially one as beautiful as this) is priceless!!!

  8. Dixie:

Awesome video! I commented on the Oozak blog too. Love the washi!

  9. Sue D:

Cute card–I like the papers you used and coloring. The glossy accents are the perfect touch. I do like the product linking. Even though it costs a lot in supplies to make one card I keep telling myself that the more cards I make the cost per card should go down!

  10. Melissa T.:

Love the coloring of the image combined with the colors of the paper. Great card and tutorial. :)

  11. Rufus:

LOL, save money by making my own cards, HA! But I love it, our Heroes love it and so do all my friends, who are now upset if they don’t get a handmade card for every possible occasion! Great video, speed crafter! Love the little hedgie and your heart embellie.

I am just learning to use Copics so the video was very helpful. Cute card and I love the paper you used. Something else to add to my wish list.

  13. Kathryn:

Still working on collecting Copics. I think I get the general principles of shading after watching most or all of your tutorials. Now, I just have to get my hands to do what my brain knows! Thanks for continuing to share your expertise.

  14. Beth L:

Awesome video! I went and checked out Oozak and I am working on a card for the challenge.

  15. Sherry Kushibab:

Great tut, and I just love the little poem you started with, pretty much sums up what being a stamping addict is all about!!!

  16. Sherry:

I enjoyed the video and I sure am going to have to do some shopping at Oozak!

  17. Valerie:

I love the colors you used for this card. Enjoyed watching you make it. Like how you used the washi tape. Gave me some ideas! Love the hedge hog image! Too cute. Also like how you used glossy accents on the hearts. You’ve inspired me to go to my craft room and create!

  18. Diana Evensen:

It is certainly true that I THOUGHT I was going to save money! However, I’ve decided my “paper habit” is less expensive than other habits some relatives have — cigarettes, Diet Pepsi (by the case!), and golfing. Actually, all in all, it’s a real bargain! LOL!

  19. Seongsook Duncan:

True. I hesitate to answer when someone who has no idea asks me how much does it cost or how much time do I spend to make one card. It’s priceless and timeless. However, I like to create cards for our heroes and their families who appreciate our time and efforts to put in. Of course they deserve more than that and this is just small token of my appreciation for their services being away from their loved ones. Thank you, Sandy, for your being amazing and inspiring all the time.

Your video tutorial for this card is awesome. Wow… in 6:31 minutes? even though you mentioned about behind scene. The product linking is very helpful.
