Old Glory meets Carp

A good Thursday to you, everyone! I’m writing this post Wednesday night….today’s is the only card this week that I didn’t get done ahead, and oh what a challenge it was to make! I’ve been off work with the flu all week; aches and pains, fever, sniffles, wicked sore throat and laryngitis. My hair hurts! Poor Ciara and the kitties have been laying on the sofa on top of me looking wistfully at me, as if to say, “Mom, come on. Get up. Do something.” And the only times I had the strength to obey was when my bladder said to! I traveled by way of the kitchen back to the sofa each time, trying to sandwich together some sustenance, but everything tastes like….well like carp.

Our team at work has been hit hard with this flu. So the emails sent by the sickies started out saying “I’m sick, not able to come in today.” Then “I feel like carp again today, not coming in.” And then…it was off to the races. I work with a pretty crazy team….

Though I did telecommute Wednesday…I think I’m still contagious. Contageous? Agh. Too tired to think. Anyway – they say wait at least 24 hours from the break of the fever, and I had a raging fever attack about 4am today (Weds)….I had chills and shakes like mad! I’ve been pumping ib all day, and am hopefully staving off more fever- but I think I’ll seclude myself one more day before venturing out, and just work from home one more day.

And now on to what you really came here for today…a card! This one uses one of the fundraiser stamps from Stampers Best – be sure you get this one, not the other flag. There are two, and one means a dollar for OWH, the other doesn’t ๐Ÿ™‚ Isn’t it cool that companies let us buy things and do a good deed at the same time?? (This is the same company with the Ciara stamp – so you can get both at the same time!)

This is the sketch I used for it, click on it to go to the original post.

And a closeup of the flag.

Well there ya have it. The longest rambling post with the least depth to offer. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m sick, I tell ya, and I feel like carp! ๐Ÿ™‚ Let’s hope the fish takes a hike before OWHtv.

ย ***Note as of Thursday morning: It’s a new day!! I still sound like carp but feeling much better. There’s a light at the end of this tunnel!

  1. I’m sorry your feeling so “carp-y” but you’d never know it from your too funny post. I can never get over how you manage to keep your sense of humor no matter what–much less make a card! You got to knock it off though–you’re making the rest of us look like sluggards! And I think carp eat those!

  2. Well, you may be sick as a carp, but you’ve certainly still got your sense of humor! Not to mention a gorgeous card. Hope that the light at the end of the tunnel isn’t a train! Feel better ASAP.

  3. I hope you get well soon. Loved your “carp” joke. I am jealous of your beautiful Koi pond. Would love to have one at my house. The card is gorgeous by the way.

    1. That’s actually not my pond. Just the result of googling “Sick as a carp” on the internet ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Glad you are feeling a little better! Carpe diem and all that! Bless you.

  5. Carpe…the flu! and wrestle it to the ground! I hope you are much improved today, sorry to hear you have been laid low. Hugs and lots of good thoughts for a speedy recovery. (Your post is still hilarious, sorry you feel…well….like carp!)

    1. If I can’t do anything about it, at least I can laugh at the flu! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I’m so sorry that you feel like”CARPE”. As sick as you are, your sense of humor still comes through. I hope you are feeling better today. Take care.
