My favorite thing (today): watercolor

This stamp set is called “My Favorite Thing” – so why not use my favorite medium? Well my favorite for today. Because ask me tomorrow and it might be different. I love to color with #allthethings! 🙂

My favorite thing (today): watercolor

After showing you how to put together a palette in my recent video – today you can watch how I use the palette…I’m trying something new to figure out how to show you what I’m doing to mix colors, and it took twice the amount of editing time, but I hope this helps. (I may not be able to do this often but might try on occasion!) Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

The footage was zoomed in for the little boy stamp, so don’t think the palette shown was tiny! lol.

  1. I really enjoyed watching you watercolor this image today and the steps you took to achieve his black hair and the water bowl. I watched in AWE!!!!

  2. Thanks for the great video for your cute guy!

  3. Really like the split screen! Very cute card, and great tutorial! Thanks!

  4. What ink do you use to stamp images to watercolor? I really enjoy your videos and am having a great time in your classes. Thanks, Kim

    1. Sorry, forgot to list it – it’s added now.

  5. Wow your watercolouring is amazing! I wish I could do watercolouring. This image is so adorable and I do love that you just left it “speak for itself” on this card.

  6. Just lovely, Sandy! I’m learning so much from your watercolor videos. The split screen is very helpful. Many thanks for taking the extra time. I would like to create some small watercolor pieces to include in my scrapbooks. Would the Daniel Smith watercolors be a good choice for long-lasting colors?

    1. Yes, from all I’ve been reading, they’ve got the best lightfast ratings. Except Opera Pink. Dang it. lol.

  7. Cute image – love that he’s tipping the fishbowl as he smiles at us – poor fish! I’m up to a size 8 Silver Black Velvet brush now… I keep practicing – getting a little better at controlling the blooms, etc. My goal is to “graduate” to a size 10 soon… I so appreciate that you take the time to really show how you do this. My dad taught art, but he died before I got a chance to be in his classes. But I look at a watercolor that he did and I can see things in there that I’ve never noticed before – and I’m so thankful that you’ve helped me to see and appreciate his work in a new way. Thank you so much, always.

    1. aww that’s awesome!
