Mittens in the snow
Is that anything like “Riders in the Sky”???
Okay enough silliness. Today is a huge day – a big video inspiration day! I’m part of a hop (see the big post here) to celebrate the smaller YouTubers you might not know about yet! Won’t that be fun? I joined in as one of the bigger channels in the multi-day hop, so I could shine a little light on creative folks who may not get seen much, so I hope you’ll visit them!
I’m using Catherine Pooler inks and stamps today to color some mittens in the snow. Texture for snow, texture for fuzzy warm mittens, who could want for more?? Watch my tutorial video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.
My card uses a very simple palette of markers….
Finishing off the card nly needed a layer of black and a red card base….ba da boom, ba da bing!
A guest post I wrote…
In conjunction with my book release, I wrote a piece for the Artists Network – HERE! It’s quick to sign up for an account and leave a comment…please say hey, so I don’t feel alone there! lol…. #shamelessplug
Video hop!
I’m giving away three $25 gift certificates for classes, so leave comments here and on YT!! Be sure to hop along…next stop on the hop after me is Arjita – click on the first photo to see her video then you can hop along with links in descriptions or choose from thumbnails below! The hop and prize info is on Justine’s blog.

Love the details and coloring on these adorable mittens! Awesome video! I’m really enjoying the hop!
The depth you got on these is amazing! I love how it changed when you added in the white dots!! Thanks so much for adding to the fun of this hop with your generous sponsorship!!! usa
Gorgeous card with lots of amazing advice thank you. I agree with no knock offs as when someone goes to fab lengths to produce super products they deserve that respect,I have a tiny budget but I safe for what I love it enter competitions & hope.
Very nice, USA
Thank you for another great tutorial! Love these you tube videos!
Your card is so gorgeous!! Thank you for sharing
Thank you Sandy for your time and talents, and I completely agree, we MUST support and protect the independent artists and stores or we won’t have them at all. If the small independents can no longer be profitable, then the Chinese and other unscrupulous knock-offs will have nothing to knock off, hence the end of a craft and industry. Please people, buy one authorized product instead of two unauthorized ones. The problem is real, very real. Take it seriously people!
Thank you so much. I already commented on YT, so won’t repeat here. But thanks for the heads up about counterfeits. I sort of suspected that some of them might be, but yours was the first real warning I have heard.
Sandy, I just love your videos. I always learn so much. I also love that you encourage us to just play and have fun. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing your talent with us, I love your fuzzy mittens!
One made up word, just for this blog hop…YOUTUBERICILOUSNESS!!! HA!!! We need to support each other & I’m proud to be a part of this amazing group of people! Thanks so much for giving awareness to these two issues!!! The card is magnificent in depth perception & cuteness, of course!!! Thanks, as usual, for sharing your time & creativity with us, You’re an amazing person!!!
Thank you for having such a kind heart. And, of course, I love your mittens. I’m still learning about contrast. Not having enough is my weakness. Thanks for the lesson.
So cute!
I have been a subscriber for a while now. Can’t wait for all of your videos. I’ve learned so much. I really like that you posted the other youtubers. It’s very helpful. (USA)

That “snow” is just delicious, Sandy. Such a shame that people feel the need to steal someone’s work. Thanks for the links too!

Your work is amazing! I aspire to be able to color like you someday. Thank you for the great tutorial!
Awesome mittens in the snow card and video! Thanks for the tips about coloring snow shadows before the red mittens!
Great video and thanks for helping out the “little guys” – there are some really talented people out there and they get lost in the crowd! AND, I would LOVE to win a gift certificate to one of your classes – what a treat! THANKS!
I love this fun card and want to try your snow shadows.
This is so fun Sandy – and it’s really generous to be part of this blog hop
Love, love, love your colouring, especially Copics! Never miss a video. Thanks, Sandy!
Wow! The mittens look like you could pick them up!
Let’s hear for the little guys!! They need all the support they can get. The bigger is better philosophy pervades our society. Everything started small. Bigger does not equal better.
Very sweet card! Great video, as always.
I learn so much from watching your card videos…thanks so much!
Sandy, thank you so much for taking the time to add thumbnails of all our videos today. It’s so nice of you to do that extra work to help us small guys!
What a beautiful card and thanks for all the rest of the videos and picks for today. I have been a busy hopper this week but I need to be mom and wife this weekend! 🙂

Great card, I love how you made your mittens woolly. Again I learned a a lot today!
Thanks Sandy for the gorgeous card, standing out for the smaller Craft You Tubers and great that you are making a statement against buying (Chinese) art supplies copies of hard working craft designers and makers! Have a nice weekend.

Very kind of you to offer your support in this way for the smaller channels. They all deserve some love!
You continue to amaze me with your coloring techniques. Love the depth of the mittens in the snow – that first blue color made it all happen. 🙂
