Every once in a while I need to overdo it – just to see how far is ‘too’ far. And I think this is teetering at the edge if not past it!
But I still like it. The card started out with just Marci in the circle, and a band of washitape around the card. That just seemed….empty. Little girls like fussy stuff, and this card is definitely for a little girl! I started by picking out the sentiment and layering it. I added the dimensional tape to the back, and before sticking it on I tried all sorts of placements. Either side wasn’t quite working…but then I realised I could give her a little scene. I cut the grasses by hand, then needed just a little something more…and I think that’s where I went over the top. I stuck some washi tape onto a scrap paper, and punched butterflies from that – while I like it, I just think the whole card is a little too far gone. Whatcha think?

I had a nicely jotted down stickynote with the copic colors….and poof. Gone!

It works!
I love it!
I think it’s adorable.
oh my goodness! This card is adorable. Over the top?! I think not! Just perfect! I love the butterflies. Also like how you pierced the white circle. This little girl reminds me of my granddaughter!
I’m one of those people who gets hives from clutter and get nervous whenever I’m adding embellishments. (But pure CAS is too far the other way for me, too.) But I think this is adorable and not over the top at all.
I think, studying it more closely, is that because the butterflies are black and white, they perfectly work with the panda, tape strip, and the other B&W aspects. And I really like the grass. I always go back and forth on whether to leave some images floating out there on the white background, or whether they need more. I think you made the right choice, there, too. And the piercing is a super detail that doesn’t shout for attention, but finishes the card off perfectly. Which is a LONG way of saying LOVE! lol
Just awesome! So cute! My daughter loves those animal hats.
She is simply adorable and I think your card is perfect! I agree totally with JoAnn, only I thought the butterflies balanced the sentiment stack besides distributing the black & white theme around the card evenly.
i LOVE the butterflies
I think a little girl would love it!
This is adorable and not at all over the top!
I really think the card is perfect. I love the butterflies.
Perfectly appointed….deliciously detailed….I love the creativity in this card!
This is such a cute card for some little girl, but I do think your instincts are right, it is a bit much….perhaps removing the butterflies would quiet it down. Just a thought!
Ditto on what JoAnn said. We all have different tastes and this will be the perfect card for some little girl and she will love it.
Sandy – i love it and I COMMEND YOU ON RESISTING GOOGLY EYES!!
lol!
I think it is just this side of “too much” — the black and white butterflys really “fit” the card. They match the washi tape below, and the panda is black and white. I think it was inspired!
Aw, this is such a beautiful card, Sandy, and I adore the verse you stamped inside! I’m sure she loved it very much! So sad to see her go, but glad she has a wonderful friend like you.
An idea…how about encouragement cards to her…when we make one for our troops, we can make an identical one at the same time to send to her? Just a thought.
Hugz2u!

A little girl is going to LOVE receiving this adorable card – so cute with the polka dots, butterflies and panda bear!
Adorable card Sandy! In fact, one of the best cards that I’ve seen with our Big Panda Marci stamp! Love it!
I’m glad you like it, Irina!
