Hero Arts: Pink and Black

Winner of the weekend blog candy: HEATHER B! Who wishes for safe holidays for our troops. <3
Heather, email me using the contact me link at the top of my blog and I’ll get your stamp set in the mail!

I’m crazy-excited about Hero Arts week….and that’s wreaking havoc on my mojo! I tried something new, and maybe you can tell me if it works: black snowflakes. (You might remember, yesterday I said this sketch kicked my butt….thus the black snowflakes!?)

I kinda like it – I wanted to use more of this neon paper I have, and thought maybe it’d be a fun combo for Christmas cards. So….yeah. This is what I came up with. Whatcha think? It might work better with hearts for Valentine’s Day, perhaps….or maybe white embossed ink on the pink, and pink ink on the white. Maybe. That might be TOO much. Especially since I’m terrible at embossing.

I love these mix-and-match sentiments! The pairs you can make out of the stamp set are fabby.

And for fun I tried another card with the sketch, turning it sideways and using the Happy Birthday set – paper piecing the balloons and clouds on scraps :)

  1. Both cards are awesome! I like the pink, white, and black. I think it looks rather elegant. Congrats to Heather for being a winner!

  2. I love the second card! Fab! The colors on the 1st are so bold and pretty, but when I look at it I see a pretty design (makes me think of flowers or damask-like) rather than “snowflakes”. But that’s just me….and it’s still a VERY lovely card!

  3. I like the pink Christmas card – the color is full of love, and the sentiment sort of says “loving you is all I care about” so Christmas colors aren’t needed. Penny is right, though, it does make me think of damask rather than snowflakes. The paper pieced card looks like fun to make. Thanks Sandy.

  4. I love the first card! When I was reading your description, I wasn’t so sure, but then when I scrolled down and saw it, all I could think was WOW! I love it! And I agree with the “damask” look of it. I think it totally works.

  5. The pink and black with white is gorgeous! and I’m usually not that fond of neons. It’s great with the snowflakes.

  6. I love the neon card! I also use neon for some of my Christmas cards – its a fun look.

  7. I love your pink and black card and the birthday card is adorable.

  8. I had the same thoughts about black snowflakes with a card I made for last week’s sketch! LOL I love how it turned out, and I love how yours turned out too! The hot pink color looks awesome! Great cards!

  9. I love love LOVE the pink/black card…sooo classy. I’m thinking I need to add both these sets of stamps to my Christmas wish list! love that you are getting out of your comfort zone on some of these :)
