Hero Arts 2013 Catalog Blog Hop

Welcome to the 2013 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop! I’m just so excited to participate and share some of the awesome new stamps for the coming year! I have a couple stamp sets to play with – so come back for the next few days and I’ll show you some more goodies…the subscribe linkythingie is over on the right, or just write it on your hand with a Copic! *wink*

So I decided to use the Love Jar set – #CL673 – and I made one of my new modified Trifold Shutter Cards. I posted a tutorial here if you want to see it – but please don’t get sidetracked from the hop…be sure to finish the hop and leave comments on all the blogs, so you can qualify more times to WIN! (See below for giveaway info!)

The jar on the cover has some fun treatments. First I stamped the jar, then filled it with heart outlines; I had to do some masking with post-it notes so they didn’t cross overtop each other. (By the way, the set also comes with flowers to put in the jar, and lemons too!) I then colored the hearts with Copics (V06 V12 R39 R24 YR16 Y17) and shaded a teeny bit in the jar area with B0000. Then I adhered the colored image to a piece of plastic packaging – and cut them both out together. That way the jar looks shiny, though I wasn’t able to get the camera to capture that. I added the label and sentiment from the set, and tied it up with twine.

This form of the TriFold Shutter card opens up to reveal a full panel to write in…that’s the thing I love about these. I make a lot of cards for deployed service members to use (sent through Operation Write Home), and I always want to be sure there’s room for a love note. And this little love jar set is perfect for a valentine card. The hearts on the writing panel inside are stamped with Hero Arts inks – there’s a solid heart and an outline, and they line up PERFECTLY! (Bugs me when you get stamp sets that don’t!) Papers here are from My Mind’s Eye and Bazzill…I kept the busy striped paper to a minimum so the hearts and stamping get tons of attention. The epoxy stickers are from a little Dear Lizzy pack.I added some piercing and faux stitching with a white pen.
