I’m celebrating the day with a couple cards made with…stickers! The flags and stars are by K&Co – really nice ones! This first one is a shabby chic take on it, with distressing, sewing, inking…don’t be afraid to take some sandpaper to a sticker if it’s a quality one. (Some will fall apart if you try altering them, but K&Co don’t do that.) The paper base here is the back of some Crate Paper, with just a light subtle pattern.

I also altered the alphabet stickers by adding pearl pen. You can also see the roughness of the edges since I distressed the paper layers as well as the alpha stickers.
Another card, same layout…but a totally different look. Not only is it all layered with black and added to rich kraft paper – but I colored over the red stripes with an R29 Copic marker. It held the shadows while darkening the color – if I hadn’t done that, the red was all washed out. The black was originally inspired by the letter stickers by Creative Imaginations…really cool ones but black, and needed some heavy contrast in the card in order for them to work.
Here you can see the difference between the darkened flag on the left and the lighter on the right with a little sanding done on it.
Are you doing anything to mark Flag Day? Leave me a comment – I’d love to have some ideas to share on the show tonight to inspire others to do something, even if it’s just making a card
Thanks for visiting!

The Pearl Pen embellishment really makes the letters pop. I need to get one of those pens. The pearl drops look like rivets. Also the K&Company flag is so perfect. K is my favorite die cut and sticker company because of their amazing designs and use of color.
Coloring the second flag really made a difference. It became very striking. Also love the Alpha letters that also had the ‘military alphabet’ on them. My 14 year old boy was surprised that there is a Flag Day. Today we will learn about the meaning behind Flag Day.
Sandy, great cards! But what show tonight? What am I missing?
