A blessed Sunday to you all! I’ve got another simple bow for you today…and I’m gonna call this one SVCAS. Maybe that’s a stretch…but it is what it is, peeps!
This card uses a stamp I borrowed when at an LSS – I wanted to use it for background paper sometime so had stamped a bunch. Not a clue who makes it! Nor the sentiment, that was from ages back, way before the days when I thought it was even remotely important to know who made what. LOL. Nonetheless – it’s the ribbon I want to talk about here.

First step is laying down adhesive for the cross piece of the ribbon on the panel it’s attached to. Before laying down the long one though, lay the piece you’ll make the criss cross bow from. That way it’ll be attached and stay put! If you want banner flares on the ends, you might try cutting them now, it could get harder later.
Then fold over one side, and put a little adhesive under it; I recommend a little ScorTape or a glue dot, you won’t want liquid adhesive, and you also want something that will really stick.

Fold over side two, attach the same way.
Using a piercer (I have no idea why Tonic calls it a craft pick. lol), make a hole for the brad. Holepunches may go through some ribbon, but not this yummy May Arts satin.

And you’re done! Attach the panel to your card and you’re done. It’s a good flat technique, just make sure you don’t use supergiant thick brads or you defeat the purpose of a flat bow.
Did you see this week’s vlog yet? They’re baaaack, at least for now – I’ve had a couple topical videos to make by special-request of one of our partners ![]()
And now for that candy I’ve been taunting you about!
Tonight I’m going to go through all my blog comments since the hop, and do a random.org to pick a winner for a BIG YUMMY BAG OF RIBBON! It’ll be mostly May Arts – though I might include some others too. I’m trying to wrangle my way out of a ribbonfest around here, and want to give away goodies to one of my faithful followers! You can go through the week’s posts today if you’d like, though it was a lot easier doing it throughout the week – subscribe and you’ll get notified of my new daily posts – and when there’s more candy
Stay tuned for the winner to be posted tomorrow…it’ll make someone’s Monday a GOOD DAY!

Love this sentiment, so true, and a great easy way to showcase ribbon!
Great way to use the ribbon without having to tie it. Thank you!
What a beautiful card. Thanks for showing us another way to use ribbon. Love this idea.
What a great way to make a bow. I really appreciate your sharing your ideas and posting cards everyday. I look forward to seeing them every morning. Such a beautiful card too.
What I love about the techniques you’ve shared this week is that they’re all simple but a nice change from the norm! Thanks so much for inspiring me to use more ribbon.
Sandy Thank you for the ribbon tutorials. I did not know you could use ribbon so many ways. Charlsie
Gorgeous card and I love the criss cross bow! Thank you for all the inspiration this week.
Your card is so elegant Sandy, and what an uplifting sentiment. You’ve added yet another amazing ribbon technique and I thank you so much. I love ribbon but have a hard time thinking out of the box on defferant ways to use it.
I love that flower stamp Sandy! I hope someone comments that knows who makes it… it makes a fabulous background paper! Thanks for all the great ribbon ideas, I never did anything more than a bow before.
Lovely card and I love how you did the ribbon. Thanks for a great week of showing how you tie and use different ribbon. I love ribbon and you have given me some very good ideas. Thanks,
Really awesome idea! TFS!!!
Sandy, love this striking mostly black and white card, and all the so simple yet creative ribbon ideas. Question: Is there no longer an “older posts” feature? Do I just go to the “recent posts” and “search” functions? Thanks for all you do, and I hope you get to “catch up with yourself” soon!
That’s weird – it was here before. Hmm. Will see if I can fix that. You can always go to “home” by clicking on the blog name at the top, and scroll through the slideshow to see what other posts you missed, too.
Thanks for sharing all these ribbon ideas …. for easy flat ribbons rather than a bow.
Gorgeous card and I love that technique! I’m totally trying that one out.
W gorgeous card! I love this bow, I can’t wait to try it out!
This is stunning– I love this ribbon idea– who knew there were so many ribbon techniques out there
Thanks for another great tip!
Each day this week you have given me inspiration to use up some of the ribbon in my ribbon stash. Thank you Sandy for all the great ideas!
I’m always looking for ideas to use ribbon that don’t end up too bulky, and this one is super! The other day I found a bunch of brads I hadn’t used yet, so now I have a way to use them.
Thanks for sharing your talent!
What a gorgeous card! Thanks for the tutorial!
This is a great idea! Thanks so much for sharing!
Sandy, What beautiful blessings! Your info and tutorials are so kool. Many of my family members were (and are)serving our country. From WW2…Vietnam… Afghanistan, etc. Some in the Navy, but mostly in the US Army. They have bonded with men and ladies who serve with them.
Where can I purchase the items that you use for the cards?
I’m so sure that my family (and I) want to bless those special people in our lives.
God bless you and yours,
Always, Sandy M
Hi Sandy! The links are always at the end of each post as long as I can find somewhere that sells the items. I have a lot in my stash that I don’t know where it came from, so sometimes those links are limited. Thanks for your family’s service!
OMG just when I thought I had seen every techinique done with ribbon, you go and surprise us! Now I am thinking….why didn’t I think of that?? LOL Off to my craft room to give it a go and work on some more OWH cards! Thanks so much!!
Yay. What a great technique with the criss cross bow! I’m going to try it out!
I’m still relatively chicken to do the things you do with ribbon but I am always in awe! I struggle with bows, even though I have a bow-easy. I have not used May Arts ribbon as I don’t know where to get it. I realize it can be purchased online but I’d like to see it before buying. I should have been from Missouri as I am definitely the “Show me…” girl! …lol
That is a really beautiful card – again, truly CAS and elegant. Thanks for the neat idea on “finishing” a ribbon “bow”.
Fabulous card–I like the background and the beautiful bow treatment.
Another nifty, flatish ribbon treatment! Also liked (yup, pushed the button and everything) this weeks Vlog. Another reason to wish that I had a LSS, but I don’t. Unless you count 2 1/2 hrs each way as local!

Thanks this bow looks great and easy to do!
Love the bows, but how did u ever hold onto and find stamped images from years ago??***
Sandy, I like this “twist” on ribbon with the brad. I like ribbon on cards, but I have to see it used to be able to do it myself. Also, I have brads similar to this and have trouble figuring out how to use them well. I hope to do some ribbon shopping this week.
Dear Sandy. WHat a pretty way to use lovely ribbon. THanks for sharing that idea. Greetings from Denmark.
