Day 5: Go for the Gold: Twinkling Lights

I seem to be channelling Bob Ross quite a bit lately…..so let’s see if we can use his help to make a tree. And use a little sheep’s help to make it twinkle!

Twinkling Lights

I have an issue with this Lawn Fawn stamp set. Because it’s called Baah Humbug! What a sad name for such a darling little set, right? LOL! My little sheep is having lots of fun decorating for Christmas – and making it shiny gold and silver! (Cue the Burle Ives song!) To see how I drew the tree, watch the video below, or click HERE to watch in HD on YouTube!

And Don’t you just love how the set of 3 Pearl Pens makes the lights look dimensional? Squee!!

On Periscope today I did a little session on coloring with zigs – and the audience helped with deciding on the background!

Your turn!

I hope some of you try out the tree on a card…I’d love to see us grow a forest of pines in the Inlinkz gallery for class!

  3. Oh I love the lamb. Cute, cute, cute! I’m Puertorican so I was singing Fleece Navidad in my head. Thanks for a wonderful class.

  4. Such a cute card. Loved the happy tree tute, but with a “fleece navidad” card maybe a palm tree would be more fitting lol 🙂

  5. Sweet card. Love how you did the tree and I am enjoying seeing all the different gold products. TFS

  16. You make it look so easy! Thank you for these Go for the Gold classes! ! I want to get the pearl pens, but wondered if the white that you painted on, (did you say something Copic?) is available at Ellen Huston, too? Thank you!

    1. I used the set of 3 pearl pens – is that what you’re asking about?

  17. Enjoy it? YES!!!! I guess you know to plan on another one next year, also! (And maybe a Christmas in July.) Or maybe Let’s Go Pink for valentines day. I have enough suggestions to keep you busy all next year in case you run out. LOL Thanks so much for this treat! (No calories involved!)

  21. Hi Sandy – I’ve been feeling very inspired by all your lovely posts. Just wanted you to know that I clicked through to this post from your email. After looking through the post I wanted to access some earlier blog posts. However, because of the purple banner at the top it says that I can’t download files to my Mobile device, I am unable to pull up your main menu and thus see other things. I wasn’t sure if you were aware of this glitch but it does prevent me from being able to get to other blog posts.

    1. I know 🙁 I’m working on it! My new site will launch hopefully in November, and I can’t wait…it’s all a hot mess right now 🙁 But – a cheat is to go to my Pinterest page and you can see just the main pics for all my blog posts and get to anything from there! https://www.pinterest.com/sandyallnock/my-creations-of-2015/

      1. Thanks for the “cheat.” I was finding that same thing on my phone.

  22. I am so glad I did not get the tree stamp. Thank you for showing me I have Zig CC 43 and 46 to get the job done! Any idea what time you may be scoping? My notifications isn’t working 🙁 Makes for a sad sheep. Thank you for sharing! ~Mari~

    1. Sorry, I’m slow at getting to comments right now – you can catch up on http://katch.me/sandyallnock

  23. cute card – love the gold . TFS

  24. Your tree is absolutely amazing. I think one of these days I’ll have to go freestyle and try one too. I also love your tip for stamping the versamark with a slightly dirty stamp when heat embossing with a darker powder. Such a cute card! 🙂

  25. Such a cute card, wonderful gold, and I LOVE THOSE SHEEP!

  26. Sandy, you really know how to solve problems. I love the embossing tip as I have had problems doing this…no more. And the card is absolutely adorable. Thanks for the tip and for sharing your talents.

  27. Adorable card, Sandy. Really have to try creating a tree from scratch and digging up my Viva pearl pens from my stash.

  28. Such a sweet card and sentiment!
    great tutorials!
    Thank you so very much!

  30. What a great set of videos…thanks for such a comprehensive list of products! Are there any issues with the Pearl Pens being “sticky?” I have had that problem with papers sticking to Liquid Pearls.

    1. I’ve been experiencing the same problem with the pearl pens. I intend to try adding a thin layer of glossy accents next time I use my pens.

    2. Just let them dry completely. And I mean completely! Most folks put it in their card stash before it really dries. And make as small of dots as you can, no thicker than necessary 🙂

  31. Very cute Sandy! TFS

  32. I have to say Sandy,I’m having such a wonderful experience with these classes My brother has been TRYING!! ,TO TEAM ME HOW TO PUT IN MY CARDS LOL.THEY MAY JUST HAVE TO COME IN ALLLL AT ONCE.if I can remember the steps,These classes are just PHENOMINAL INSPIRATION & FUN…THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART

  33. I love this card with subtle gold details and lovely tree. You make it look so easy, especially with only 2 colors of green!

  34. What a wonderful card and collection of videos.

  35. I love shiny things. Unfortunately, I can’t access the video. When trying to view from the blog I get a message that I must sign in to see the video. If I click the link to view it on Youtube, I get a message saying the video is private.

    1. Sorry! YouTube messed up but it’s working now 🙂

      1. Thanks Sandy! Everything is working now.
        Donna
