For a dear friend

Today I have a card to share that’s for a dear friend, Dee…she’s going through so much right now, and my card for her is a simple cute encouragement. Mostly because I don’t know much of what to say. Dee is one of our founding board members of OWH….and she’s stepping down. I’m so sad, even though I totally understand….she’s got that awful diagnosis of cancer, and is going to spend the time that remains with her family.

I tried a lot of things before settling on this Mo Manning image; I just didn’t like the other attempts. They all felt like…well, too somber. Dee’s not a somber person…when I talk with her on the phone, even with the news her doctors have been giving her, she encourages me with her cheerful attitude! So I went for this happy little image, and some Graphic 45 papers.

The ribbon had to be special on this card. So….first I adhered a strip across the card. Then cut a 2nd piece and stitched down the center; I tugged on the threads on both ends til it pleated. I attached that with ScorTape too. I opened the prongs on the brad wide so I could get it around the center, then poked both ends together through a single hole.

The verse inside is a great encouragement to me, and I hope it will be to Dee also.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about Dee. Although I don’t know Dee, with your description of her cheerful and positive nature the Mo Manning image is just perfect and as is the sentiment. It is hard to know just what to say when those near and dear to you are facing such struggles. I will keep her in my prayers.
