Vintage Christmas Kitsch

Vintage Christmas Kitsch

I was inspired to look at some vintage postcards to figure out a layout for this card…I stamped the deer, added the circle in pencil, then stamped the greens (masking where needed), then drawing in the banner and circle with a black sharpie (waterproof pen). I had some challenges with the purple background, but it was sure a fun experiment – and this is one of my fave cards lately! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

Nativity Mini TryFold Christmas Card

 Nativity Mini TryFold Christmas Card

I’ve been making a bunch of these Mini TryFold Nativity cards for my Christmas stash…they’re beautiful and simple, very flat – and easy to color quickly! I stamped a bunch using the MISTI – once I had it set up I just kept stamping! Included in the video is an idea for making it easy – using just the droppers and not a palette. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

I love the Hydrus watercolors for their intensity – and that they don’t “move” once you go over them with another color. But they also blend with other colors while wet, too. Best of both worlds!

Clean and Simple Christmas Cards – Ellen Hutson Bloghop

Welcome to my stop on the bloghop for Ellen Hutson’s new release! There are two designers represented, so be sure to give a big welcome to Brandi! 🙂

Clean and Simple (CAS) Christmas Cards

I’m always on the hunt for ways to use up things I have sitting around…and when I saw a stack of watercolor scraps and matched it up with some beautiful and simple dies – I knew I hit on a winner. Note that these could also look lovely using white paper instead of black – with the pop of watercolor showing through, it would be lovely like that! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

My second card, also included in the video, is from one of Brandi’s sets – lots of fun houses, sentiments, and more – be sure to check out Light Parade

And one more bonus card – also from the Light Parade stamp set….there are cute houses that I *gasp* cut apart and stamped down a hillside, then handcut the snowy hillside. Also painted with Hydrus watercolors.

Paint rich watercolor

While watercolors can be soft and lovely, they also can have a lot of punch! Layering washes over each other to build up rich color can be well worth the patience of waiting in between. Check out how I created the fun background as well as the painted stamped images! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.
