Painting practice with Guacamole (Uhhh avocado!)

Just like with any medium, it’s helpful to repaint the same thing several times in a row to gain the most learning from your attempts. So make a “crowd” of avocados to really learn how to paint one! Watch the video below or click HEREHERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

The inside just has a few layers of paper – then a sweet tiny bit of stamping.

Mixing it up on Pirate Island (watercolor)!

Mixing it up on Pirate Island (watercolor)!

Hello friends! It’s the first Thursday – which means I’ve got a treat for you over at MFT’s blog!

In that post, I mentioned that July is World Watercolor Month – so you know what that means, I’ll be painting up a storm! (And no, Copicistas, I won’t be going solo on watercolor….but will be including a lot more watercolor on Instagram for the month!)

New Watercolor Classes at Art-Classes.com Coming Up!

TWO new watercolor classes are coming to art-classes.com – launching July 1st! My monthly newsletter subscribers got a little sneak peek….and their excitement lets me tell ya it should be a lot of fun!

If you want to get yourself ready for World Watercolor Month, I’d recommend getting your watercolor stash prepped.

  • If you’re running out of a color or two? Stock up!
  • If you’ve wanted to try Daniel Smith Watercolors and haven’t yet, try out my dot card now (it’s cheap!), and then pick some colors to buy.
  • See how I set up my palette and have yours all ready.
  • Haven’t yet made a color chart with reds yellows and blues yet? Get on it!

Neither class leans on having ANY specific colors. And you *can* take them with other brands of watercolor, too, but your results may be a little different. Brushes: #8 and #12 round Black Velvet brushes. Full supply lists will be available in July, but if you’ve got these items and some Arches Cold Press, that’ll get you going!

Compilation: 9 Fox coloring videos!

Compilation: 9 Fox coloring videos!

I’m out of town on vacation (ok a working vacation, but ya know. Gotta do what you gotta do!) And since my house-and-pet-sitter doesn’t make videos…I kinda needed a plan B.

One of my lovely followers had a genius idea for my vacation posts…to do some fun reprises of old posts you might have missed! Today….I collected the crazy number of videos I’ve done with foxes – can you believe this craziness?! lol! Supplies aren’t listed in this post, but click through to the blog post or YouTube page to get links if you need ’em. Note that a bunch are older, so links might be dead if they aren’t available any longer.

The sweet Garden Charmers stamp set from Penny Black has a pretty bird and lots of beautiful flowers – I’ve combined one of the clusters of flowers with the bird to create a 5″ x 5″ watercolored scene – with clouds! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

No-Line Watercolor Mothers Day Flowers

No-Line Watercolor Mothers day Flowers

Mother’s Day is around the corner – but this stamp could be used for the holiday, or combined with any stamp set to create a card for any time! I used Avery Elle pigment inks to stamp with; if your stamp only has red flowers, you can use red to stamp with – mine had flowers and leaves, so a yellow (mimosa) made the most sense for mine. I nearly discarded the outside frame – then realized I had actually centered it well (which is rare!) so I tossed some loose watercolor on it and adhered both down to the card. So simple and pretty – and no waste!

Watercolor a dog park

Watercolor a dog park

My life is one trip to the dog park after another. Can anyone relate? Having two energy-filled puppies means playing hard is required every day, so we alternate between an hour of hard running at the park or an hour and a half walk around our neighborhood. So today’s card is inspired by those daily adventures!

Watercolor a dog park

For today’s video I combined two MFT stamp sets to create a little scene; the little girl in the stamp set had a glass of lemonade in her hand, but I masked her hand out behind one of the pups so she could just be standing with all the doggies. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

The card is finished off with a dotted die from Avery Elle and mounted on brown cardstock, with a little twine just for fun.
