Fall Flowers Series 2018 #7: Vintage Blooms

Fall Flowers Series 2018 – last one!

I love creating a little series of videos for you sometimes….kind of like a mini public “class”! I had a bunch of flower stamps in my growing stash that I haven’t shown yet, so they’ve been collected together this week into a series. Scroll down for the recap!

Vintage Blooms

For this card, I ended up filming playtime….messing around with colors to see what I liked for the big yellow flower. Trying colors I hadn’t normally, and even extra colors! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

It’s been a fun week for me – hope you’ve enjoyed it too! Here’s all the posts in case you missed any!

Masculine Floral Card

I threw myself a challenge – make a fall floral that could be sent to a GUY!? You’ll have to decide if I achieved it or not…… Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

Colors used…I misspoke, weathered wood is walnut stain. W’s ya know?

So tell me…is it masculine?? lol! My dad used to always say “Take it easy” instead of “Bye!”….so I used this sentiment from this sloth set.

Copic Coloring on Colored Cardstock

I’ve colored on some other cardstocks with things like pencil….most of my Copic I’ve reserved for Neenah. I happened to have *surprise* a pack of Lawn Fawn paper in the studio, so I decided to try it out! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

So simple but so pretty…and now I have a card ready for the next occasion for which I don’t really “feel” like making a card due to the emotion. It’s always good to have one in the card basket!

#3: Vintage Hydrangea

It’s been so much fun to feel like I can dive into more colored pencil pieces here on the blog; they require me to speed things up since pencil takes longer, but now that I know you can get lots of education in the Colored Pencil Jumpstart Class, I don’t feel guilty for all the speed!

These hydrangeas are fall/post-season color. Different ones turn different colors but I love the ones that get golden and purple and look so vintage! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

#2: Painted Poppies

These elegant poppies just cried OUT for watercolor! And in this video I’ll show you how to do kind of a cheater “loose” style….it’s fun and isn’t as out of control as you’d worry it might be! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

The card front is layered onto black, then the pink card base, setting it off nicely. One flower was masked for the stamping of the sentiment “HAPPY”….I didn’t have the right color pink ink, so used some red with some Picked Raspberry on top of it to get close to it!

Fall Flowers Series 2018 #2: No-Line Copic Fall Flowers

#1: No-Line Copic Fall Flowers

This set is called “Friendly Bunch” – I think it’s actually cherry blossoms! But as artists we can color things any way we want, right? I turned these into a pretty little bunch of orange flowers, and made it a no-line piece as well – meaning I stamped the image with a superlight ink (it’s a near-dead tan pad that I keep around just for this purpose!) Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

The colors for this card…

Since I had stamped my secondary sentiment off-center, and was too lazy to restamp it, I just added a little twine feature to one side so it looked like it was on purpose. Shhhh don’t tell on me!

I really loved how this one came out….so fresh and pretty! The card front is trimmed down to allow 3 sides to have a white border, and it’s popped up on dimensional adhesive.
