Mo Manning’s Adele

Posted on Apr 5, 2013 | 5 comments

TGIF, friends! It’s been one long week, hasn’t it? I’m just wiped…the renovation is just wearing on me. I don’t know how people survive with work lasting a month or more–I’ve lived through 2 weeks but won’t make it much longer! But as of last night, over half the floor is done, so maybe, just maybe, today will see the end of the laying of the flooring. (There’s a big battle to come with the manufacturer though – all the extra labor due to the terrible product is going to have to be covered by someone, and that someone is not me!)

I have a cheerful thank you card today…I could really use more thank you cards. Those and missing you. I have tons of everything else and need these to match up with them. The image is “Adele” by Mo Manning…lots of fun to color.

The papers are…oh man. Not sure. My stuff is a disaster, so I’m not even sure where the pad is, but this is from one of my new 6x6s. Copic colors: E79 E37 E99? Y26 Y32 B06 B04 YG97 W1 E53 E51 BV000 Sandy Allnock Mo Manning Adele2

ICSE Cupcake!

Posted on Mar 17, 2013 | 6 comments

So you might be wondering why I’m not posting a green card today eh? Well scroll down to yesterday’s post…I was a day early. And not because I forgot what day it was…because I wanted to get that video done and dusted yesterday :)

Today’s card uses the cupcake that’ll be featured in the ICSE class this coming Saturday! I’m psyched. Running a little behind – I was hoping to have determined by now what colors to be using for class. Yeep. I’ve now listed the colors on the ICSE page for the chocolate one shown there…and below are the colors for this one. I’ll be working on a page full this week for the class pdf – and maybe once the students all get the pdf, you guys can vote for which coloring I’ll do? Dunno. The technique will basically be the same no matter what colors you use.

Sandy Allnock - Daisy Cupcake for ICSE 1

I used up the last little bit of this birthday paper from Echo Park…added a little ribbon and some ginormous ZVA pearls, since this card goes to a friend of mine at work. No worries about the PO eating the card because of big bling! And the Wish Big sentiment is by Hero Arts; I inked half of it with Tsukineko chalk ink (green) and the other half in pink. Border punch is by EK Success.Sandy Allnock - Daisy Cupcake for ICSE 2

Copic colors: RV55 RV17 RV02 G24 Y18 YR12 Y02 V22

And I’m doin’ cupcakes because it’s my birthday coming up! Wooohoo! And my birthday present to ME is to get my room going! I was hoping it was going to go really quick, but there are a number of things to get in place from the ordering of materials to the demolition, flooring…yadda yadda. So I’ll keep plowing ahead on cleaning out my craft room and shipping room, and setting up mini versions of both in the dining and living room so I can keep up with everything as the work goes on. I’m hoping it’ll be done and I’ll be moved back in by the end of April….so send me some good wishes for that as my birthday gift! :) :) :) I did go pick out what I think will be the cabinets; they’ll be at standing height, and I’ll have a tall chair for when I do want to sit; this is the rendering I got from Home Depot yesterday:

734174_10151553483037631_822066502_n

And that’s just the crafty side of the room. I’ll have another bank of cabinets on the shipping side! I am SOOOO STOKED! I’ve put up with rooms that don’t quite “work” for a long time, and I’m anxious to get rolling on the demolition and rebuild :) Stay tuned for updates!

Need to sign up for class? Be sure to go get the digi from Fred She Said (link is on the ICSE page) and get your ticket for class:

Paper Smooches: Proud gator

Posted on Mar 10, 2013 | 1 comment

Wow, thanks so much for all the love on the blog skip yesterday! If you missed it, scroll down a post – there’s a lil giveaway :) I still need to take time to go read through them all – I was out at my stamp group yesterday at my LSS and celebrating a friend’s birthday  last night, and went almost right to bed when I finally got home. A favorite kind of day, full of mojo!

For my card….I’m seeing so much pink and purple right now that I just wanted to go clear over to the masculine side for this one! Every spring I think the bright girlie colors call out to us all after the drabs of winter – but we still need cards for our men and women to send home to their boys!

Sandy Allnock - Paper Smooches gator

Papers are from a fall 6×6 from Authentique – but I don’t think they need to be relegated to fall only! The warm colors are a great complement to the little green gator – they’re all in a muted, rich colorspace, so I think they work great together. The little bits of cream in the gator anchor him within the right color grouping. And I just love how he’s gazing up at the sentiment – as if he really IS proud!

Happy Thursday, peeps! Today I’m bringing you another card with this fun little image from Kraftin Kimmie…it’s Charlotte, and I’m sad to once again say she doesn’t appear to be available anymore. But there’s something about the crazy dolls she’s got – and that amazing hair – that I just LOVE about this one!

I also decided to do the Tic Tac Toe challenge over at the MWT on Stars and Stamps – I used blue, border punch, and ribbon for mine!

Thanks a loot!

Posted on Feb 26, 2013 | 5 comments

I am soooo grateful for everyone who took advantage of the awesome Stamp Sale Fundraiser – you guys love a bargain, and we’re so thankful that MFT donated goodies to allow that to happen! We do have a little more, but not a ton so hurry if you’re still thinking about it!

(By the way, I had divided the “loot” into several things so we’ll be doing more stamp sales over the coming months, and I’m looking at creative ways to make that happen. Stay tuned!)

This is one of the stamps that we’ve had in the fundraiser – she’s so cute, and OH the size of her loot! LOL! I paired her with some Graphic 45 paper, silk ribbon, and an EK Success border punch…

VCMP: Market Street Puffer fish

Posted on Feb 16, 2013 | 15 comments

Hey peeps! It’s President’s Day weekend and OWH is hosting a virtual party - hope you’re going to get some time to join in! I did a couple of my to-do’s this morning – including my walk and taking down the Christmas lights. (Yes, the CHRISTMAS lights. I’ve been telling you I’m busy….lol!) So I rewarded myself with a few minutes to make a card that combines the first two challenges: using zigzags/chevrons, and a creature – great or small – for kids.

I’m hoping some Mom or Dad might send this after perhaps an uncomfortable Skype chat or phone conversation. Maybe a little stress, or a lecture over grades….having a cute card to send them would be a great way to smooth that over, because that kiddo can see it over and over and remember that their parent really does love them!Sandy Allnock - Market Street Puffer1

The chevron punch is by EK Success, and this cute puffer fish is from Market Street Stamps - sooooo darling. And apparently soooo retired :( I had a blast getting the colors to blend! Copic colors are B000 B21 BV000 B60 R0000 and RV10. The sentiment was a freebie on their site a while back.Sandy Allnock - Market Street Puffer2

Flapper Anya

Posted on Feb 10, 2013 | 3 comments

Yay, it’s Sunday! :) My to do list isn’t too overwhelming today, either, so I’m hoping for some playtime. I was hoping to get a tut done with some new products – ack! So cross your fingers for time :)

Little Anya’s here to do her happy dance….

Sandy Allnock - Flapper Anya 1

She’s a retired stamp….so if you fall in love with her you might check eBay or some non-TGF websites. Background chevron paper is by Lawn Fawn (my 2nd to last cardfront piece, eep!), and the others are from G45.Sandy Allnock - Flapper Anya 2

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s May Arts bloghop post with the satin heart cutout ribbon – I’ve got one more with it today! (If you didn’t go comment, you might want to do that…and go visit the other blogs too. They always have awesome blog candy at May Arts!)

I used my new Authentique 6×6 again – I think I’m stuck in love card mode even though we’re done with Valentines at OWH! I just adore this Ragged Romeo image from Mo….sooooo pretty! And lots of fun to color too.

The sentiment is from one of the My Favorite Things sets in the Fundraiser Stamp Sale – oh you didn’t know about it yet? Go check it out HERE – two stamp sets for only $5!

Two ol’ owl buddies

Posted on Nov 26, 2012 | 8 comments

I’m not sure if these are particularly “joyful” owls, as indicated by the sentiment. They look a little shell-shocked to me – lol! Kinda how I feel at the idea of going back to work today! Eeep! I’m so not ready. But….I made progress on a gooooood chunk of the YT project, completed three videos for others’ channels, shot everything for one due the 2nd week of December….and I counted up my personal cards for Christmas and I don’t have but 20 more to go! Woohoo. Very excited. I’m still hoping to madly edit videos all week…I’ll put off the December eNews a little maybe, if it looks like the Yt project will launch. Yeah, lotta geekspeak, but I’m tired. It’s Sunday night and my fingers are plum wore out :)

This stamp set is sadly out of production :( I know last time I posted a card with it, tons of you asked about it in comments and emails….I’m sorry to be a tease! You know I prefer to enable you to shop :) So instead you get to make do :) Even the Copics on this are a wash right now…you oughtta see my desk. I couldn’t find a stickynote with Copic numbers on it if you paid me. LOL.

And by the way, I did finally get the yard raked and mowed yesterday – the sun came out! It was mushy but I did it. Next nice day: lights. Ciara went out into the front yard with me while I worked (that’s a real treat for her) and all the neighbor boys came over. They played tackle football with her for about an hour til they were ALL worn out! She didn’t move a muscle the rest of the day, poor girl. The boys were so cute – one asked how old she was, and recently found out that dogs multiply by 7 to get the equivalent of people years – and one worked really hard to figure out that 13 x 7 is 91. He suddenly forgave Ciara for being a little slower than his year-old puppy. :) Nice when the whippersnappers respect age, eh? (And yes, he thought *I* was also old. LOL. KIDS!)

Well….here’s hoping we all have a fantastic Monday. Mine’s made better by a really successful week off work; my to-do list still isn’t a to-done one, but I checked off enough to make me feel like I’m not a slacker :) Yeah!

Joy to you, world!

Posted on Nov 20, 2012 | 9 comments

I’m feelin’ it….that Christmas spirit! How about you? I’ve had Pandora playing back holiday cheer all week, and I’m loving every minute of it.

Today’s card is my entry for the Our Daily Bread Designs November challenge: we’re supposed to dust off a technique we haven’t used in a while! So I dusted off a pen to make some hand-stitching; it wasn’t til I started the clouds for this that I realised I hadn’t done that in a while!

The image stamps are all by Paper Smooches…just LOVE this set! Sentiment is by Simon Says, suede string by May Arts. (Links in the doobliedoo!) And the clouds are punches – different sized ones by Fiskars. They weren’t popping against the background, that’s what made me add the stitching. And I also pierced down the place that the papers joined and drew in some stitching there too. The border punch at the bottom is a new favorite – one of the Fiskars ones with the replaceable cartridges. This one just stays in the holder :)

Copic colors: G09 G19 R27 B000 YR16. That’s it! The snowman has a litttle border around him to 1) make him pop and 2) make him easier to cut out! :) The tiny treetrunks were hard enough :)

Lots of the elements on this card are popped, and yes, my own Christmas cards are all gonna cost me an extra 20cents this year, but so be it! lol. It’s worth it to get my jollies with the Precious :)

Come back tomorrow for some real fun….I made an advent calendar for May Arts, and you’re gonna LOVE it!  I can’t wait to share it :)

PS – And for those wanting to know how the to-do list has progressed:

  • International Christmas packages and cards were MAILED YESTERDAY! That’s a RECORD for me!
  • I’m up to 85 of my cards made, only another 20 or so to go….need to check the list and see if there’s more than that or not.
  • Laundry’s done, a big crockpot dinner was made that’ll last a couple days, grocery shopping’s complete.
  • Only 4 more Christmas presents to buy!
  • Paper Crafts Mag accepted submission is mailed for publication.
  • 15 OWH boxes are packed and ready for labels, letters, and customs forms. (I’m outta valentines after these, so bring ‘em on!)
  • Raw footage shot for a couple special projects to come over the next couple months.
  • Christmas photos shot, sent to Costco, and picked up! Before Thanksgiving!

The YouTube project is going slowly due to the above, but….now that these hurdles are behind me, I can go back to doing them and a bunch of other video projects full time the rest of the week. Unless of course the sun comes out, because then I gotta mow and rake, and climb up to the roof to put out the lights. (I’m praying for more rain at this point – ROFL!)  I might take a break to go get a tree later in the week, we’ll see if I deserve a reward :) I really should get that fishtank cleaned too, but….that’ll fit in while some videos are rendering, maybe! ;)
