Backlighting: Halloween Costume Party

Backlighting: Halloween Costume Party

Backlighting: Halloween Costume Party

When I saw the Costume Party stamp set – I knew exactly what I was going to do. And it was that sentiment sign! ha. I know, I know, I’m weird! But in today’s video you get a lot more – mostly about coloring a backlit image. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

Even if you just colored all the flat-color, single layer parts, including the sky – this would be amazing.  Hope you try it out!

This card, as many, brings me to constantly ask myself, HOW MANY MARKERS do I use on one piece!? Lol!

MFT Guest post + New Copic Class

MFT Guest post + New Copic Class

I used the little Magical Day set with this sweet little bear all dressed up as a magician – and his little bunny friend! They could be putting on a magic show, or performing at a birthday party – or with these colors, even celebrating halloween! (Is it too early!?)

Check out the video below, then meet me back here for a couple more tips.

Wasn’t that just a heck of a lot of fun? I know, I know, it looks like a hot mess until it’s not. I get that a lot. But it’s fun to see it come to life! A few tips:

  • Let go of worries about bleeding through the back. Resolve that this will never be a one-layer card.
  • Cut the paper down and do a smaller scene – a full card front can be intimidating! This one is 3.5″ square.
  • Use colors you have reinkers for. You, uhm, might need them.
  • Choose analagous colors for the background – those are colors next to each other on the color wheel.
  • Spend your time on the important parts of the card – in this case, the background. Notice I didn’t do ANY shading on the bear’s outfit or the bunny’s hat. With all that pixie dust, who needs to? I had to call your attention to it, that’s how much you weren’t looking at that part.

Looking closely you can see I added Glossy Accents to some of the pixie dust bubbles and the eyes and nose. And for those who didn’t jot the colors down fast enough, here they are – I linked to them over on my blog if you just want to click and not go searching.Hope you enjoyed my little bear’s magical pixie dust….be sure to tag me over on instagram if you try this. I’d love to see your creation!

Custom Patterned Paper + Plant Lady

The Leading Ladies collection at Ellen Hutson is growing! This sweet plant lady has a green thumb…even though I don’t. (Hey at least I can on a card, right??) I’ll show you how I colored here in my #humanrainbow style, as well as creating my own patterned paper with some NEW papers from Ellen, too! (Colorable! woohoo!) Watch the video below, or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

A few more color combos, courtesy of Crafty Lady stamp set!

And one more share…last night I was playing around coloring a garden for the plant lady. This is as good as my gardening gets – MARKERS! lol.

Penny Black guest week: Sharing a Song & 3 other shading maps

Penny Black guest week: Sharing a Song & 3 other shading maps

Happy Monday! I have a treat for you this week…..I’m guest-designing with Christmas cards all week over on the Penny Black blog! There’s a video on my channel today, of course, but the posts and pics will be over on their blog. (There will only be a video today – the rest of the week will be stills but lots of shading maps!) I’ll be back here for my regular Wednesday and Friday videos.

Today’s video shows this Sharing a Song card………and here are peeks at the rest of the week!

Supplies used all week:

Bird week: MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE! (Seaside Seagulls Card)

Bird week: MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE! (Seaside Seagulls Card)

Welcome to Accidental Bird Week! There’s no international holiday celebrating our feathered friends, no reason to celebrate birds except that…well….I noticed I had three bird cards scheduled. So we’re gonna call it a holiday week!

MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE! (Seaside Seagulls Card)

These MFT seagulls crack me UP. I can totally “hear” them gathering on the dock and yelling “MINE” over each other, everyone wanting that one chip. Can you hear them too??? Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

There’s a “MINE” word in one of the sentiments if you want to stamp it instead of writing it, but it was quick to just write the word. (And then no one has a heart attack watching me cut a sentiment stamp. LOL)
