R2C Day6: Sweet Llama Christmas Card – Colored Pencil

R2C Day6: Sweet Llama Christmas Card – Colored Pencil

Sweet Llama Christmas Card – Colored Pencil

Today I’ve got some coloring tips for you with colored pencils – and a darling simple llama card! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

Today’s charity

When I think of llamas, one thing that comes to mind is a scarf I was given made from llama wool many years ago – so I think of the woman in South America who made it! Today I want to bring up an organization called Ten Thousand Villages – I’ve shopped in person at one of their retail locations before, and spent a bit of moolah over at their web store for this season. I’m certain you’ll find something there for that hard-to-shop-for person…something with a story behind it!

Colored pencil Christmas card: Yeti or not!

Who doesn’t love a Yeti?!? I live in the Pacific NW, home of Sasquatch, so we know there are crazy wild beasts wandering in the great outdoors…..especially with dogs and penguins for buddies! I colored up this little card with Prismacolors – hope you enjoy! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

Altenew Crafty Friends Bloghop: Charmed CAS cards

Altenew Crafty Friends Bloghop: Charmed CAS cards

Welcome to my stop on the Crafty Friends hop! The first one was at the Altenew Scrapbook Blog – and you’re here at stop #2….so you should be on the right track! Supplies and giveaways are toward the end of the post, so keep on a-scrolling, but for now let’s get to some pretty cards, okay?

Charmed CAS (Clean and Simple) cards

I decided on some CAS cards that combine the new Crafty Friends set with Charmed – because who doesn’t love flowers, right? The sentiments go with *anything* as you’ll see in the video – you can use cute stamps, elegant stamps, funny stamps – or just make a background and let the stamp be the hero! And if you want to hear the story of how I got started crafting, you’ll have to watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube!

I made a set of these with slightly different layouts, just turning the flower stamp different directions and stamping the sentiments in different places.

For some, the secondary sentiment is stamped directly at the bottom…

…other times just one sentiment will do…

…and of course dimensional adhesive for a secondary sentiment adds a little something special to the card!

Rainbow Christmas Pencil Penguins..and a huge BLOOP!

Sometimes a video doesn’t want to get made….but then we crafters wrestle it to the ground! And turn it into a CAS card to boot. Like craftymagic, right!?!? Watch the video below or click HEREto see it in HD on YouTube.

Pencil colors: 995, 132, 992, 1027, 916, 921, 913, 109, 926, 937, 1079, 1102.

How’s about that Stitched Hillside Border die bailing me out!?!? Thank you Lawn Fawn for always having something to help!

That colored pencil tip – just to reiterate – I did this one over and over so many times. Not for bloops, but the footage just kept doing weird stuff. I nearly quit and moved on, figuring these penguins didn’t want to be on YouTube! But – I kept the pencils in order like this, so I could real quickly grab everything in rotation to do both layers of pencil quickly. If you have a lot to color, it’s a good idea to do the coloring with some kind of ordering so you can jam through the work quickly!

And those adhesives – the wider 3M one is under the full panel, and the thinner Xtreme tabs are under the snow. Which helps add dimension without adding so much it costs extra postage! Note that the 3M tape now comes in a 3/4″ roll – wider than previous, which is no longer available. It’s a little pricier, but the GOOD NEWS: theres 2 extra feet of tape, and it’s wide enough to cut it down the middle to get double the use out of it.

Review: Prismacolor Accessories

Review: Prismacolor Accessories

I don’t usually do reviews, as you might know, but….this had me intrigued. And when I saw how useful these things are I had to share. So let’s do this!

Review: Prismacolor Accessories

I’m reviewing primarily the set (listed in the supplies) but also a few other sharpeners, and the case I’m taking with me to Juneau today. Yay for a weekend away, eh! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

Here’s the case I’m using for travel. Pencils all sharpened up and ready to roll!
This is another handheld sharpener that’s awesome – if you don’t have something to collect your shavings into.

And of course….the big mama sharpener.

Santa Paws Christmas Choir (pencil, meet airbrush)

Santa Paws Christmas Choir (pencil, meet airbrush)

Santa Paws Christmas Choir (pencil, meet airbrush)

Does it count as a mixed media card if I use both colored pencil and Copic airbrush? *grin* Whether or not it does, it was a blast to make this one! Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

The initial card may have been a bit time consuming but – I can see that this could be made in multiples – stamp a bunch, coloring on the sofa, then reuse that mask to do lots of skies. If you’re great with Distress Inks, you can likely figure out how to do that sky with inking!

Also – I realized afterward that I never went back to put in the pencil numbers. SO sorry. It’s time consuming and I don’t often just totally forget that step! In order though, my little list says: 941 948 1033 1034 1082 935 947 041 047 1094 947 926 and 937. That should be the order anytime a pencil color is swapped. Maybe.

I also made this one with the same stamp set, but with a Copic background (not airbrush) adapted from the Mini Course at Art-Classes….so much fun!
