Bella Blvd

A little birdie misses you

Posted on May 9, 2012 | 3 comments

This lil Paper Smooches bird just looks like he’s sittin’ around thinking of someone, doesn’t he? I had some slivers of paper left that I had to use up (remember, I have that rule, if I don’t use it in a week, out it goes!) so I wanted the last of the Bella Blvd onto a card quick! No tossing it!  :)

The card struggled in coming together…I had a whole other design started, but kept laying these circles down – originally they tumbled vertically down the card. But they just wanted to go across in the end, so I let them. Who am I to question paper?

Products used:

  • Lots of scraps, and the floral is from Bella Blvd (green chevron is side 2)
  • Stamps by Paper Smooches – bird from this set, sentiment from this set
  • Butterfly punch by Fiskars
  • Scallop and circle dies by Sizzix

Whooooooooooot! It’s Monday!

Andf I’m late at tackling the rest of the Rebel Challenges…eeep! Or maybe this one should say “Whooooo!” for Sheila’s Owl Challenge. Good excuses though….working on the new website, and some treats for everyone on it….hopefully I can finally slow down some email requests for things by the work I’m doin’ now. My big debate…do I go live with it all before the Memorial Day Bloghop, in case of tragic undertow of the site? Or get it working before all the guests arrive for the hop? I just don’t know!

Back to my card…..I may be late on the challenge, but I am, however, early using the sketch for the week, earlier than my norm! I’m using up the rest of a sheet of Bella Blvd – this is both sides of the sheet, so CUTE and springy!

The stamp is a Whoot from Art Impressions…I swear he’s got to be one of my favorite lil guys to color!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious news!

Posted on May 1, 2012 | 18 comments

(And no, I didn’t have to google the spelling of that! Yes, I’m strange!)

Ohhhhh I am just so excited to bring you some big news! Now, I have to put a caveat on this – it’s not big news for Operation Write Home. I know, I know, I posted on Facebook the other day, “ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh~~soooooo stoked.” That gets you all thinking I’ve been called by Ellen or something. Sorry!

But…this is exciting news for me: I got a call on Sunday from Rusty at Oozak. About joining their brand new Design Team! They’ve just started their blog and held their first challenge in April – yep, they’re that new! They’ve just got a couple folks on board already – Mel, Anary, and Mary (Mary happens to be an OWH fangirl, go leave her some special love!)…and now me! My term starts in June, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store—and what I’ve gotten myself into! :) The May challenge starts today – go play along with some springy colors!

And if you’re new to my blog, coming here from Oozak – welcome! Feel free to click the link on the right to subscribe by email; I blog a card every day, and I hope I can inspire you!

I’ve got a rather cheerful, springy color combo for you in today’s easel card. I just adore this paper (and I only have one sheet, gasp!) by Bella Blvd – it came in my recent Studio Calico kit. I swear, I get introduced to some of the most fun new products out there through the kits – I just love it! The easel card format is one I don’t use a lot, since I’m sure our heroes and their families don’t quite understand how it stands ‘up’ – so I put a tiny tiny message in pencil explaining the card stands up like an easel. I used my ScorBuddy from ScorPal to create the folded base – nice sharp creases in the heavyduty cardbase make it stand up nicely. And on top of all this juicy detail – I used the MojoMonday sketch that went live yesterday! Whee!

The colors on the designer paper let me use some of my scraps wrangled recently, woohoo! The image was stamped on the purple paper, as well as white so I could color it…..I had fun doing my usual fussycutting after coloring! With all the little pieces on this, I used Tombow’s Dot Runner – works great on items with tails and antennae. And by the way – the lil snail has racing stripes, did you notice? lol! These two are goin’ at reckless breakneck speed!

The back of the floral Bella paper is a green chevron – which of course inspired the use of some yellow chevron ribbon from May Arts! I tied the knot very loosely, as you can see, and secured the ends with gluedots; the right half of the knot is tucked under the image, so only half shows on the card.

The inside of the card is as fancy as the outside! The chevron paper can be written on – despite how this photo may have come out! The sentiment pops out of a lovely Basic Grey brad (also from my Studio Calico kit!), and the center of the sentiment has a tiny dimensional under it so the banner ‘waves’ as it flies.

So that’s about it for my sharing today….I hope you get some great news this week too….leave me a note and let me know what exciting things are going on in your life right now!
