Be Awesome Bird Cards – Paper Smooches Baby Birds

Be Awesome Bird Cards

While the title of this cute little stamp set from Paper Smooches is “Baby Birds,” it’s not for baby cards (though could be). They’re just stinking adorable birdies! I decided to color them using analagous colors on a color wheel – see below the video. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it in HD on YouTube.

There are TONS of color wheels on the web, and analagous colors are the ones adjoining each other.

And here are stills of each of the card insides, for your pinning pleasure:

  1. Thanks Sandy Allnock! I love how beautiful the sky is in the morning.

  2. You are awesome Sandy, this is gorgeous!

  3. Hi Sandy,

Thank you for this fantastic way of presenting an image on a card. I love this technique and I want to thank you also for demonstrating Prismacolor Pencils as I have just had these bought for me. The colour wheel is such a great resource too and I want to thank you for providing this on your blog for us crafters. :O)

  4. These are so adorable!

  5. Oh my word Sandy, these are just darling!

  6. Yours cards are adorable !!! My color-wheel appears on my desk at the same time as my color-pencils, I cannot work without it. I’ve got a laminated version for ages and I love it.

  7. Such a super cute and fun set of cards! I love to watch you color and learn so much, thanks for the shading tips. I need multiple reminders so I appreciate you repeating these tips across videos. Great idea to give card sets to a charity too.

  8. Sandy, was just watching your video with these baby birds, they are soo cute. Thank you for explaining about the wax in the pencils to not burnish the colors til the very last layer as if you do it to soon that last layer won’t work right. Have a wonderful day, and week end.

  9. Did I miss what ink you use to stamp the feint image? Love this technique….she says whilst sharpening pencils x

    1. It’s a really old dye ink pad that isn’t made anymore – I’ve saved it just for things like no-line coloring since it’s SO feint.

  10. Love this coloring tip! I will get my color wheel out in plain sight. This is such a fun set and I like your idea to have some sets made for future events. Thanks, as always, for your inspiration!

  11. Love Paper Smooches – their critters always have such big smiles! And that’s a great idea – making a set of cards to keep in the stash for gifting emergencies.
